Neverness to Everness (NTE), made by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World Games, is a free-to-play open-world action RPG set in the supernatural city of Hethereau. Running on Unreal Engine 5, it mixes anime-style visuals with fast-paced combat, vehicle mechanics, and exploration. You play as an "Appraiser," tackling supernatural Anomalies while teaming up with unique characters called Espers, each with their own skills and stories.

Since the game’s reveal in July 2024, Hotta Studio has been dropping character details through trailers, developer chats, and closed beta tests (CBT). The latest "Containment Test" beta, from July 3 to July 16, 2025, showed off gameplay for several playable characters. As of August 22, 2025, over a dozen characters have been introduced, though some are still nameless or mysterious. This article rounds up all known characters based on official sources, trailers, and beta footage, covering their roles, abilities, and details where available.

Characters are split into officially named ones with clear backstories and those only teased by appearance in trailers or betas. Keep in mind some info might change before the game’s full release, expected sometime after Q3 2025.

Officially Named Characters

These characters have been properly introduced through trailers, social media, or developer updates. Many were playable in the 2025 CBT, showing off their moves, ultimates, and idle animations.

Mint

Mint is a lively blue-haired Esper from the Bureau of Anomaly Control’s Containment Unit 2, known for being a walking encyclopedia of Hethereau’s secrets. Super social and great at gathering info, she’s a key support character often seen in trailers, teaming up with Zero, Nanally, and Sakiri in beta footage, where she dishes out quick, combo-heavy attacks to keep the fight flowing.

Nanally Coluccus

Nanally Coluccus runs the Eibon antique shop in Hethereau’s Bridge District, bringing a calm, wise presence and a strong sense of justice to the table. A major figure in the story, she’s fought in big Anomaly missions like Danzaburou’s Revenge and the Fluffy Demon King Showdown, often paired with Sakiri in trailers, and her ultimate, Coluccis Ultimate Death Shadow Nether Punch, wipes out enemies in a single devastating hit.

Sakiri

Sakiri, a horned Esper tied to the Eibon antique shop, is all about rules, especially when it comes to her Anomaly hammer, Kiroumaru, which she swings for massive damage. Despite her youthful look, she’s a tough fighter with quirky habits like leaving notes on the fridge, insisting no one mess with her hammer or specific fridge shelves, making her a standout in beta gameplay alongside Nanally and others.

Zero

Zero, likely the protagonist or a customizable starter character, is a balanced fighter who takes center stage in gameplay trailers, much like leads in games like Wuthering Waves. With versatile, standard attacks and a name that might be player-chosen, Zero’s been spotted in beta footage fighting alongside Mint, Nanally, and Sakiri, making them a core part of the team.

Jiuyuan (Miss Jiuyuan)

Jiuyuan, also known as Miss Jiuyuan, is a skilled driver who stays cool under pressure while transporting Espers and handling urgent Anomaly deliveries across Hethereau. Introduced in developer talks, she’s tied to the game’s driving mechanics, giving players rides during missions and adding a unique flair to the open-world exploration.

Taygedo

Taygedo is a quirky, squirrel-like Oddity with a TV-shaped head displaying a dog’s face, known for its soft-spoken nature and habit of repeating its name like a Pokémon. Having snagged third place in Eibon’s Best Restorer contest, it’s likely focused on restoration or support skills, though it’s unclear if it’s playable, making it a curious addition to the cast seen in trailers.

Hotori

Hotori, an elegant Esper who seems to run the Eibon antique shop, carries an air of mystery with her hidden supernatural powers, positioning her as a key figure in the story. While she might serve as a shopkeeper or story NPC, her undisclosed skills, hinted at in trailers, suggest she’s got more up her sleeve than meets the eye.

Lacrimosa

Lacrimosa is a tomato-obsessed Esper with black-and-white hair, dreaming of a tomato palace and showing off her strength by lifting a vending machine for her favorite snack in beta footage. Her quirky personality and strength-based skills, teased in social media posts, make her a memorable character who’s likely to pack a punch in combat.

Fadia

Fadia, a sharp-tongued, purple-haired Esper, gives off strong leader vibes with her authoritative presence, likely tied to the "Purple-Haired Woman" seen in trailers. While her abilities are still under wraps, hints suggest she’ll use command or debuff skills, making her a strategic asset in battles as shown in early gameplay reveals.

Adler

Adler is a classy fighter who wields a cane or walking stick for crowd control, backed by a near-constant shield that makes him a tanky powerhouse in combat. Showcased in the 2025 CBT with his ultimate moves, he’s built for soaking up damage while keeping enemies in check, standing out as a defensive anchor.

Merula

Merula catches attention with her massive crow-like hat, marking her as a likely high-rarity (S-class) unit with a mysterious aura that shone in the 2025 CBT. While details are slim, her elemental or summon-based skills, hinted at in gameplay, suggest she’ll be a powerful and unique addition to any team.

Skia

Skia, a fierce wolf-man Esper, tears through enemies with sharp claws and teeth, transforming into a shadowy ink form to slip through foes and deal damage, with his ultimate igniting this shadow using a trusty Zippo lighter. Revealed in official trailers, his dynamic, high-damage playstyle makes him a thrilling addition to NTE’s combat roster, perfect for players craving aggressive tactics in Helios City.

Alphard

Alphard, a non-playable character in Hethereau, is tied to an anomaly case and accompanied by his assistant, Nelly, adding depth to the game’s narrative. While not confirmed as playable, his role in early story quests, as seen in trailers, suggests he’s a key figure in unraveling Helios City’s supernatural mysteries, with unique interactions that enrich the urban adventure.

What to Expect Next

With the game still in development, expect more character reveals through betas, events like Tokyo Game Show recaps, or social media posts. The gacha system, without a 50/50 mechanic, will let players pull for these Espers, focusing on elemental combos and team-building. Pre-registration is open on the official site, with rewards like in-game currency at launch.
