Pokémon Rumble Rush, the newest installment in the Pokémon Rumble series, is getting a global release soon, providing fans of this franchise a brand new way to experience Pokémon.

Like many other Nintendo games on mobile titles in the past few years, Pokémon Rumble Rush was made from the ground up to be played on the go. More specifically, it employs a “tapping” control scheme that allows players to give orders to their character and Pokémon very easily with only one hand. That said, you can totally still play with 2 hands if you so wish.

While Pokémon Rumble Rush still maintains the traditional theme of collecting Pokémon to fight for you, it actually feels more like a gacha RPG than the familiar turn-based mainline titles. That means the entire game is divided into stages, wherein you control your Pokémon to battle through a bunch of enemies before facing a big boss at the end. Upon completing each level, you will earn several rewards such as new Pokémon, coins, and more.

There are also levels that house "super bosses" that require a stronger roster of Pokémon to overcome, encouraging you to battle more and experiment around to build a team that best suits your playstyle. Naturally, these super bosses drop some pretty nice loot when defeated.

Besides capturing new, stronger Pokémon, you will also be able to upgrade those that you’ve already got in your collection in a number of different ways. For example, you can equip them with various augmentations or collect more of the same Pokémon type to make the entire species stronger.

In term of augmentations, they are divided into 2 types: the Power Gears provides a stat boost to the equipped Pokémon, while the Summon Gears allows you to summon Pokémon outside of the current team you’re using into battle.

No official release date for Pokémon Rumble Rush has been confirmed at the moment, but we know that it’ll be a free-to-play title. Given its gameplay, though, some in-app purchases are to be expected.
