Roguelike Dicey Dungeons Looks Great In Brand New Trailer

Super Hexagon was one of the hottest game on App Store and CH Play for several months. Admittedly, the game’s graphic can mess with your eyesight at first with all of the fast-moving geometry. Still, it is the kind of the game that you can quickly get addicted to and also the kind that you’d show your friend to drag them down with you.

Terry Cavanagh - the man behind the hit - was gearing up for his next potential masterpiece: Dicey Dungeons. From the look of it, it’s going to be one of the most anticipated and probably among the top games of the year on both iOS and Android. Though we still don’t have concrete information regarding the game’s actual release date. It’s probably going to be sometimes soon, though, judging by the fact that a new trailer had just been released.

The new trailer, released on January 17th, showcased the game on its current status. You can get a glimpse into the actual experience of the game.

About Dicey Dungeons

Cavanagh’s career was built on top of odd geometry. After all, his turning point was Super Hexagon - a game based entirely on abstract graphics. Though Dicey Dungeons has moved away from all of the abstractness, the geometric art style remained as a signature, creating a funky and childish atmosphere that is quite entertaining to behold.

In term of gameplay. Dicey Dungeons is a deck-building game. The objective is simple: In response to the multitude of threats within the game, you will have to create the best deck possible to survive the ordeal. At its core, Dicey Dungeons is as atypical a card game as could be. But it wouldn’t be that interesting of a game without its own twist. Aside from the abilities and powers of the chosen cards alone, there’s a second factor that governs your success: Luck.

That explains the ‘Dicey’ in the title. The effectiveness of the cards depends on the outcome of a dice roll. At the end of the day, it’s no longer a card collecting game where you will eventually get the most powerful cards and dominate the field.

The Demo

However, it is a ‘simple’ way of putting the mechanics of the game. The actual game is considerably more complex than just cards and dices. For now, though, if you want to try your hand at the game, there’s a PC demo version on the developer’s blog that you can play.
