Christian Bale will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the main villain of the next Thor movie, Love and Thunder. Various reports have been brought up last month about Bale's casting, however, the information has not been verified until now. A few extra details are also available as well.
Bale would likely play Gorr, the God Butcher, a rather new villain in the comic. Gorr is an intergalactic killer whose mission in life is to hunt and kill all gods in the universe as revenge for the death of his family. Bale probably has plenty of experience channeling vengeance from his time in The Dark Knight trilogy. It is likely that he would not stick around, as this type of villain usually gets killed in their first appearance.
The fourth movie in the Thor franchise would also be directed by Ragnarok's Taiki Waititi - its tone would be 100% laid back comedy after the serious final confrontation in Endgame. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson will be back to reprise their roles as Thor, Jane Foster, and Valkyrie. This movie would take inspirations from one of the newest Thor series, The Mighty Thor, in which Jane Foster would get the power of Thor and replace the real one in the series. Looks like Hemsworth's Thor is not going to take a leading role anymore in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thor: Love and Thunder, would be released on November 5, 2021. Interested in more of our articles related to movies? Please check out this post for information about another Marvel movie in phase 4: Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
