Elden Ring Nightreign is an exciting new spin-off from the world of Elden Ring, dropping you into a fast-paced, co-op survival adventure with a roguelike twist. Set in a parallel universe called Limveld, this standalone game mixes FromSoftware’s brutal combat with fresh mechanics and a three-player focus. Whether you’re a Souls veteran or a newcomer, here are 10 key things to know to get ready for Nightreign’s release on May 30, 2025.
It’s Not Just More Elden Ring
This isn’t a sequel or extra content for Elden Ring. Nightreign is its own thing—a co-op survival game with roguelike and battle royale elements. It’s set in a different world called Limveld, so don’t expect the same story or setting as the Lands Between.
Designed Around 3-Man Party, Hard To Solo
The game’s built for three-player co-op, where you team up to survive and take down bosses. You can play solo, but it’s way harder. Two-player mode might come later, but for now, it’s either three teammates or going it alone.
Three-Day Runs, Quick and Intense
Each run takes about 30–45 minutes and follows a three-day cycle: day one, night one, day two, night two, then a big boss fight. You’ve got to scavenge resources and level up fast to face the Night Lord, or it’s game over.
Pick from Eight Ready-Made Characters
No custom character creation here. You pick from eight Nightfarers, like Wylder with his grappling hook or Ironeye with her long-range skills. Each has unique gear and abilities, so choose one that fits how you play.
Combat’s Fast and Fluid
Compared to Elden Ring, fighting is quicker and more mobile. You can sprint, wall-run, glide with ghost hawks, and there’s no fall damage. Stealth isn’t a big focus, but some characters, like the Duchess with her invisibility, can sneak around a bit.
Randomized World with a Twist
Limveld’s map is based on Elden Ring’s Limgrave but shuffled every run—enemies, loot, and events change each time. A shrinking “Ring of Fire” pushes you toward bosses, so you can’t just wander and loot forever.
Simple Leveling, No Armor
Leveling is easy: runes automatically improve your stats based on your Nightfarer’s setup. You don’t mess with armor—just weapons and shields. You get six weapon slots and two for amulets, and even unequipped weapons give passive boosts, so plan your build carefully.
Relics and Murk for Rewards
Beating bosses gives you Relics, which carry buffs into future runs but need to match your character’s color slots (like blue or green). You also earn Murk by playing, which you can spend on cosmetics like emotes or outfits—no pay-to-win stuff here.
Team Revives Make Death Less Brutal
Dying isn’t the end. Your teammates can bring you back by attacking your corpse to break a health circle, though it gets tougher each time you go down. Some characters, like Ironeye, can even revive from a distance.
All About Co-op, No PvP
Don’t expect to fight other players—Nightreign skips PvP and invasions, focusing purely on co-op. Loot from regular enemies is shared, but miniboss rewards are unique, so you’ll need to work together to come out on top.
