1. Max Barter on Selling Items
- Charm 100 pts for 1 sec on Touch
- Fortify Mercantile 100 pts for 1 sec on Self
- Base Magicka cost: 28; needs Apprentice-level Restoration.
Since time freezes during dialogue, cast this spell just before you start trading. It’ll make you a pro at haggling with a big boost to your Mercantile skill and NPC Disposition. The Mercantile bump also lets you invest in shops if you haven’t already.
If you dial back Fortify Mercantile to 89 points, you can cast this as a Novice.
2. Easy Pickpocketing
- Chameleon 100 pts for 3 secs on Self
- Fortify Sneak 100 pts for 3 secs on Self
- Base Magicka cost: 103; needs Journeyman-level Illusion.
Crouch in front of your target, cast this spell, and snatch their stuff. You might get caught, but it usually works like a charm. You can swap Sneak for Security to use the same trick for picking locks on watched doors, giving you a better shot at success.
3. Fast Travel While Encumbered
- Fortify Strength 100 pts for 1 sec on Self
- Feather 100 pts for 1 sec on Self
- Base Magicka cost: 21; no skill requirements.
This spell boosts your encumbrance by 600 points (at 100% spell effectiveness). Pile up all your loot, grab it, cast this, and fast travel to your favorite town.
4. Rejuvenate Magicka
- Fortify Willpower 100 pts for 15 secs on Self
- Fortify Magicka 100 pts for 15 secs on Self
- Invisibility for 15 secs on Self
This one’s for magicka users. It lowers spell costs and pumps up your magicka pool to recover the spell’s cost and then some, thanks to faster magicka regen. Cast it even when you’re out of magicka, and you’ll be nearly full in no time.
Alternate Magicka Battery combo
- Fortify Magicka (100 pts for 3 sec)
- Weakness to Magic (100% for 3 sec on Self)
- Fire Damage (3 pts for 1 sec on Self)
This sneaky combo pumps up your Magicka pool so you can cast big spells you normally couldn’t afford. Weakness to Magic boosts the Fortify Magicka effect when you recast, stacking your Magicka like crazy. The tiny Fire Damage makes the spell “harmful” so Weakness to Magic works on you.
Heads-up: This might not work in Oblivion Remastered after patch 1.1, as Weakness to Magic doesn’t always stack on self-casts anymore.
5. Perfect Shield
- Shield 70 pts for x secs on Self
- Fire Shield 5 pts for x secs on Self
- Frost Shield 5 pts for x secs on Self
- Shock Shield 5 pts for x secs on Self
This combo maxes out your armor rating from nothing to full for x seconds. It’s the most efficient way to hit the 85-point armor cap. Costs 12.5 Magicka per second, but at 100 Alteration, a 30-second cast is just 76 magicka—cheap enough to recharge before it wears off. Great for keeping 100% spell effectiveness or just running around with no armor for no reason.
6. Slaughterhouse
- Drain Health 100 pts in 10 ft for 1 sec on Target
- Weakness to Magic 100% in 10 ft for 3 secs on Target
- Base Magicka cost: 134; needs Journeyman-level Destruction.
This spell is a beast for wiping out enemies fast, no matter the range or difficulty. Hit a group with it, then cast it again—aim at the ground near enemies for the full 10-foot radius effect—and they’ll drop like flies. At just 52 Magicka total, it clears out any area with enemies under 200 health (most enemies until high levels). You can mix it up by adding elemental damage for a bigger punch on the second cast or tweak the radius. It’s super efficient and makes a lot of other attack spells unnecessary.
7. Static Burst
- Paralyze for 1 sec on Target
- Shock Damage 9 pts for 4 secs on Target
Shock spells zip twice as fast, and Paralyze stops enemies dead in their tracks, whether they’re casting or swinging. Perfect for melee fighters. You can snipe from afar (like hitting deer), keep casting to pin a target down, or wait for the right moment, cast, and go to town with your weapon. Add a 15-foot area to the shock effect (make sure it’s second), and it can knock paralyzed enemies around, throwing them off balance.
