Stamps form a core part of the Discover Japan progression system in Forza Horizon 6. They track your exploration across Japan and reward you for diving deep into the open world beyond the main Horizon Festival events. Unlike Wristbands, which focus on festival racing, Stamps encourage you to discover landmarks, smash collectibles, complete side activities, and build your car collection. Reaching each new Stamp level grants automatic unlocks such as barn finds, player houses, and special rewards while also netting achievements.

You earn Stamps by accumulating Japan Points (often called Discover Japan points) through a wide range of activities listed in the Collection Journal under the Discover Japan tab. Progress appears in the top left of that menu, showing your current Stamp level, total points, and how close you are to the next tier. The system upgrades automatically once you hit the required points.

Stamp Tiers and Point Requirements

Here are the seven Stamp levels along with the exact points needed and key unlocks they provide:

  • Yellow (Visitor): 1,250 points
Unlocks the first batch of barn finds and The Estate property.
  • Green (Sightseer): 2,500 points
Adds new barn find rumors in the Ito region.
  • Blue (Traveller): 5,000 points
Grants access to the Hakusan Mountain Lodge.
  • Pink (Pathfinder): 8,000 points
Unlocks the largest group of barn find rumors.
  • Orange (Navigator): 12,000 points
    Opens the Fuji Unkai House.
  • Purple (Adventurer): 16,000 points
    Unlocks the Soko 78 property.
  • Gold (Master Explorer): 20,000 points
Unlocks the Vision House and the final barn finds. This also completes the Master Explorer achievement.

You receive the Yellow Stamp automatically after finishing the Horizon Invitational.

How to Earn Japan Points

Every activity in the Discover Japan journal contributes points. Check the submenu for each category to see your progress and remaining tasks. Here is the complete list of ways to earn points:

  • Discovery (uncovering new map areas and landmarks)
  • Touge and Street Racing (standard single-player races outside the festival)
  • Touge and Street Rivals (multiplayer versions of those races)
  • Friends (interacting with NPCs)
  • Photography (snapping photos of cars, murals, and designated spots)
  • Car Collection (buying or earning new vehicles)
  • Regional Mascots (smashing the 200+ mascot statues scattered across Japan)
  • Tokyo City Food Delivery (completing delivery jobs in the city)
  • Day Trips (casual drives with Mei that highlight car culture)
  • Drift Club Japan (drift events with Jordan)
  • Moto Auto Zine (delivering cars to photo locations)
  • Yuji’s Auto (testing and helping upgrade cars at the shop)
  • Car Upgrades (installing performance parts)
  • Garages (customizing your garage spaces)
  • Houses (purchasing and upgrading player homes)
  • Master Explorer (finishing playlists that combine the above)

Fastest Ways to Unlock Every Stamp

You can reach Gold Stamp in a single extended play session if you focus on high-yield activities. Here are the most efficient methods ranked by speed:

  1. Touge and Street Races: These short events award around 350 points for a win and 250 for simply finishing. They last only a few minutes and appear frequently on the map. Chain several in one region for quick gains.
  2. Three-Star Horizon Story Events: Look for the big yellow markers. Completing them with three stars (using the provided loaner cars) gives roughly 300 points each. Many stories also overlap with photography and discovery objectives.
  3. Smash Regional Mascots: Each mascot you destroy grants instant points (typically 25 per smash). Drive around with the map open and run them over while heading to other objectives. There are over 200 of them, so this adds up fast.
  4. Photography and Discovery Runs: Head to marked photo spots and landmarks. Combine these with mascot smashing and Day Trips for passive progress while exploring.
  5. Buy Houses and Upgrade Garages: Spending credits on properties and minor garage tweaks gives a steady point boost. This method works well once you have some cash from races.

Stack activities geographically. Stay in one area to knock out Touge races, mascots, photo spots, and Drift Club events in a single loop. Joining Mei for Day Trips also routes you past multiple collectibles automatically.

Benefits of Collecting All Stamps

  • All 15 barn finds (rare free cars that only appear after specific Stamp thresholds).
  • Exclusive player houses with unique perks and views.
  • Customization items and one achievement per Stamp level.
  • The Master Explorer trophy at Gold.

Higher Stamps also improve your overall Explorer rating and open more of the Japan map for deeper discovery.

Pro Tips for Efficient Progression

  • Open the Collection Journal often to claim rewards. Yellow present icons mark unclaimed items in each category.
  • Play across all seasons. Some photography and discovery tasks change with the weather.
  • Use fast travel between festival sites to reset race availability.
  • Tune your car once for multiple Touge and Street events to save time.
  • Explore on foot or in slower cars in dense areas like Tokyo to spot mascots and photo opportunities you might miss at high speed.

Stamps reward pure curiosity and fun exploration rather than grinding. Drive around Japan, race when you feel like it, and watch the points roll in naturally. By focusing on the high-reward activities above, you will hit Gold Stamp well before finishing the full festival campaign.
