As the spotlight shifts to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Season 6 update for Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 felt lacking in content. Although it brought in some new weapons and temporary game modes, many players were hoping for more from the last season. A big point of frustration was the addition of muzzle smoke in Warzone, which made it challenging to spot enemies. The developers have made some adjustments to the muzzle smoke, but there’s a downside.

In a recent post on the Warzone subreddit, user pnokmn pointed out a change not mentioned in the October update patch notes: the DTIR's muzzle smoke was quietly reduced. While the smoke is now less obstructive and visibility improves at close range, it still becomes quite noticeable as the distance increases, taking up a significant portion of the field of view.

While the smoke can be frustrating, fans are also upset about the Blackcell skin. When players use the Blackcell blueprint with the DTIR, the smoke is reduced a lot. Although there’s still some smoke, it mainly goes to the side, making it easier for players to see. This isn't the first time a gun has been called pay-to-win; the MAC-10 in Warzone faced similar claims before, mainly due to a bug. However, this situation seems more deliberate, as the smoke was adjusted but still doesn’t match the effectiveness of the Blackcell blueprint.

Aside from the distance problem, many players noticed that the smoke reacted oddly to bullets. In the video, using certain scopes caused the smoke to flicker, creating another annoying distraction when using the gun. Since Activision has been making adjustments based on player feedback for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, many hope the developers will do the same for Call of Duty: Warzone.
