Cyberpunk 2077, the biggest game of 2020, is super graphically demanding... you would need a pretty good rig to be able to have an acceptable performance. This is more or less the developer's fault, as the game is just not optimized enough - future patches might improve the performance further.

In this article, we would list out everything you need to follow to get better performance in Cyberpunk 2077 while still having a good-looking game.

1 - Important Things To Do

  • You need to lower the resolution and disable ray tracing. They are the costliest feature that would drag down your system's performance.
  • Install the latest NVIDIA and AMD drivers - newer versions of drivers might have optimizations for Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Run the game in Fullscreen Mode. While Windowed sounds pretty tempting for multitasking... fullscreen is still the most stable and would provide the best performance.
  • Close unnecessary background apps to free up resources for the game.
  • If your rig is getting too hot while playing - consider turning on aircon or use a large electric fan to improve airflow and dissipating heat.

2 - Cyberpunk 2077 Graphics Settings Optimization

Basic Settings

Amongst the options in Basic, Texture quality is the most important. Try to keep it at High if you want the game to look good. All other options do not really matter much... but you might get some extra FPS by turning them off, as they look rather ugly.

Suggestion: Turn off Depth of Field and Motion Blur

Advanced Settings

This list might look imposing... but it is actually pretty simple. Shadow-related settings are the costliest - just tone them down or even disable them if you are having performance problems.

Suggestion: Turn all Shadows related settings to medium or low. Especially Cascaded Shadows Resolution - it needs to be as low as possible.

Amongst the other settings, Ambient Occlusions is probably the biggest resource hog. Turn it to medium or low. The rest could be Medium or High without much trouble.

Resolution Settings

It is recommended to leave both minimum and maximum at 100 for the game to look good. Only tune this down if you have no other option... lowering it would result in a much blurrier experience.
