It’s been over ten years since we got a fresh GTA game. Rockstar’s said they’re working on GTA 6, but they’re still playing it coy about the exact release date. Both Rockstar and their parent crew, Take-Two Interactive, have been super quiet, and it’s got everyone scratching their heads.

Tez2, a solid Rockstar insider, reckons GTA 6 could land between the 2024 holiday season and early 2025. Take-Two’s expecting a massive $8 billion in cash flow for Fiscal Year 2025, which runs from late 2024 to early 2025. Since GTA 6 is basically a money-making machine, that timing sounds like a pretty good bet.
Even so, Rockstar and Take-Two haven’t spilled the beans on an official GTA 6 release date. Back in February 2022, Rockstar tweeted that the sequel’s in the works, but they’ve been radio silent ever since. This suggests that the game may simply not be complete enough for a release date to be set.
Rockstar addressed GTA 6 leaks in a September 2022 tweet, promising fans that the next installment would be unveiled properly when it’s ready.
The massive hype surrounding GTA 6, set for a Fall 2025 release according to Take-Two Interactive, has gamers and companies on edge. Despite a 2023 trailer, Rockstar Games’ silence has sparked delay fears. Analyst Ben Porter from Newzoo told PCGamer that a delay could devastate some companies, forcing them to either fill the gap or stretch finances by six months. While delays are common in gaming—think Cyberpunk 2077 or Starfield—Porter warns that pushing GTA 6 to 2026 might “tank” vulnerable firms.
