The Darksiders series is welcoming its newest spin-off entries - Darksiders Genesis. THQ has released the trailer for their latest title, and it reveals a lot of details about its unique gameplay in the series.

You can see it for yourself right down below:

Darksiders Genesis is the prequel of the first two Darksiders games

Darksiders Genesis happened before the stories of the first two Darksiders title. At the time, the apocalypse had not occurred yet, and Strife is living his normal day, doing his typical jobs with the council - protecting the Balance.

This will be the first time for Strife to be a playable character in the series. War, Death, and Fury have already made their debut, and this time, the fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse - Strife - finally has some grounds to make his action.

In Darksiders Genesis, Strife is on his duty to keep the world's balance in check. Humankind is under the threat of destruction from the hand of Lucifer - the mysterious and mighty demon king who gives powers to master demons in Hell.

Strife, alongside with War, will have to defeat those master demons, gather information and find a way to prevent the Balance from being permanently upset.

Unique Gameplay

The first three titles of the series featured the gameplay that really looks like The Legend of Zelda. However, with Genesis, things are different now. Joe Madureira, the CEO of Airship Syndicate has announced that Darksiders Genesis takes a brand new approach in the franchise, introducing new gameplay and Strife - the last horseman.

And the developer has lived up to its promises. The trailer is pretty short, but still provides us a lot of information about the unique gameplay of the upcoming title.

Darksiders Genesis will be the top-down third-person action-adventure game, featuring fast-paced action, dungeons crawling, monsters slaying and loot gathering. It sounds and looks extremely similar to Diablo 3 and Torchlight, and will be the first title in the series to use this camera setting.

That's the reason why it will not have the name "Darksiders 4"!

Additionally, “Intense combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, epic boss battles and serpent holes from heaven to hell” also made their ways to the game, which promise to bring a lot of potential to the game, and will cost bonus hours of gameplay as well.

The game supports multiple platforms, including Stadia

The description from the reveal trailer has confirmed that Genesis will support PC (through Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and Google's upcoming service: Stadia.

THQ Nordic hasn't confirmed the official release date yet, but further information will come at E3 2019.
