Like other Souls games, Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t spell out how everything works. You’ll spot the Small Jar Bazaar in the hub area right away, but figuring out what’s worth your Murk (the game’s hub currency) can be tricky. What’s “good” changes as fast as the game’s map, since early relics get outclassed after a few solid runs.
The Small Jar Bazaar stays put, but its inventory grows as you take down Nightlord bosses. At first, it’s just basic relics and emotes, but it expands a lot, and it’s easy to get lost on what to spend your hard-earned Murk on.
The Best Items to Start With in Nightreign
Grab a Few Relics for Each Color Slot
In a Nightreign run, you buy items and levels with runes. After a run (whether you win or lose), you get Murk, which you use in the hub for costumes and bazaar purchases. This currency sticks with you and is key for anything that carries over between runs. The bazaar sells three main things:
- Relics (including a gambling mechanic like in Diablo)
- Emotes (Gestures)
- Pate Stones (basically sound effects you can trigger)
Early on, focus on buying a few relics. Every Nightfarer class starts with a unique relic setup, with three color-coded slots (red relics go in red slots, etc.). For just 500 Murk each, you can grab enough relics to fill most slots for your classes. The boosts are small, but they can make a difference in tough fights.
The Best Mid-Game Items in Nightreign
Focus on Goblets and Stronger Relics
Once you’ve got a few runs or clears done, stop just filling slots and start picking relics that pack a punch. You’ll get some relics for free after runs, so you’ll build a collection without always buying. Sell off any relics you don’t need for extra Murk, but hang onto ones tied to elemental affinities—they’re a big help for boss fights later.
In the mid-game, prioritize Goblets, which unlock after beating Nightlords. These let you mix up your relic loadouts by giving new color slot options for each Nightfarer, costing 1200 Murk per character. Pick a couple of Nightfarers to focus on and only buy Goblets when you need them.
The Best Late-Game Items in Nightreign
Spend on Costumes or Roll the Dice with Scenic Flatstones
Costumes aren’t sold at the Small Jar Bazaar, but they’re a big Murk sink if you’re into them. Two types—dawn and darkness—unlock after beating two bosses, and they’re pricey at 14,000 Murk for dawn and 35,000 Murk for darkness. You can swap into them at the “change garb” spot in the Roundtable Hold hub once unlocked.
If cosmetics and emotes aren’t your thing, save your Murk for Scenic Flatstones. These are like a gambling system from other RPGs—you pay 600 Murk per stone, and it turns into a random relic. They can be any rarity, so you might burn through Murk chasing a great one. To save time, you can buy multiple Flatstones at once.
