What would you do when the online game you like the most goes down? There’s a great statistical chance that the answer is ‘look at pornography’. This has just been proven by hundreds of thousands of Fortnite fans. While Fortnite was absorbed in a black hole, they searched for porn en masse.
According to an Insights blog post from Pornhub, on the day Fortnite was down (the 14th of October), searches that are related to this popular battle royale on the sexual health site reached the peak of 152% above average. (Friendly reminder: As it has always been, the blog is totally safe for work; however, do take your browser history into consideration.) The percentage above shows that there are “hundreds of thousands of additional searches.”
More particularly, searches for the term “black hole” astronomically skyrocketed. It ended up reaching its peak of 9640% above average on that very same day. Among those searches, some were specifically for the term “fortnite black hole.” (Presumably, considering the context of the blog, the term might usually carry another meaning.)
Furthermore, traffic from gamer-identified users also increased a bit on the previous night, peaking at 10.6% above average.
History happens again
This whole “event” really provides all of us with some statistical specifics on porn habits of gamers (particularly Fortnite fans) when the game was absorbed in the black hole. However, it’s also considered as a known fact that that interest in Fortnite porn rises when the game is unavailable.
Last year, during an unexpected, big downtime of the game, searches on Pornhub went all the way up.
