The Single Player Campaign has never been the focus for mosts call of duty game, as multiplayer and special game modes are its main selling point. In spite of this fact, a story campaign is something that every game must-have regardless of quality – with the backslash from Black Ops 4’s lack of single-player mode as the proof for that. According to sources, the next game of the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would have a complicated single-player campaign – and this article will disclose the potential length of it.
The art director of Infinity Ward’s studio, Joel Emslie has revealed a lot more details about the next Call of Duty in a recent interview. As he was asked to make a comparison between the new Call of Duty game and the original Modern Warfare 4, Emslie answered that he believes the games’ single-player campaigns are of similar length. While that still does not pinpoint anything, some close inspection can still be made.
The single-player campaigns of both versions of CoD 4: Modern Warfare can take about seven to nine hours to beat – which means that it is very likely that the one from this remake would be the same. 7 to 9 hours might seems short if it was an action-adventure game or RPG, however, it is exactly the right length for an FPS’s main story. As the main part of the gameplay is multiplayer, Modern Warfare, despite having only 7 to 9 hours of campaigns, won’t be short. There, of course, will be sufficient multiplayer and post-launch support for Spec Ops.
The popular co-op game mode that was featured in MW2 and 3 has been confirmed for the new Modern Warfare, and it is expected to be even bigger. According to sources, there will be a narrative incorporated story that takes elements from the main campaign inside Spec Ops mode. Another source mentions that certain open-world feature will also be introduced – providing a battle-royale-like experience, with options between American and Russian soldiers.
Unfortunately, it is still quite some time to reach the launch date of Modern Warfare – and all information mention in this article is up for changes. If the Spec Ops really does have a narrative, call of Duty won’t be just a “limited single-player experience” anymore.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases October 25, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
