Flintbeetles are tough enemies you need to take down for the Volatile Flintbeetle quest in Hollow Knight Silksong. They won’t show up until you start the quest at Bone Bottom’s questboard. Once you kick things off, three Flintbeetles pop up in The Marrow, each in a different spot. If you’re struggling to find or fight them, this guide’s got your back with tips for locating these explosive critters and beating them in this action-packed Metroidvania game.
Where to Find Flintbeetles in Hollow Knight Silksong
After picking up the Volatile Flintbeetle quest, three Flintbeetles spawn in The Marrow. They’re tricky to track down, and you’ll need the Dash and Drifter’s Cloak to reach them. Look out for flintrocks scattered on the ground—they’re a clue to help you find these beetles. You can also skip the detective work and head straight to their locations in this challenging platformer.
Here’s where they’re at:
- First Flintbeetle: This one’s hiding in the lower leftmost room of The Marrow. Start at Bone Bottom, head right until you hit the small platforms that lead upward, and keep climbing. The beetle’s chilling on the topmost platform in that room.
- Second Flintbeetle: You’ll find this one in the highest part of The Marrow. From the Bellstation, move past the Bench into a big vertical room. Use the platforms and suspended lifts to climb, then parkour your way up using the vanishing rocks to reach it.
- Third Flintbeetle: The final beetle is in the room just before Hunter’s March, to the right of The Marrow. Start at the Bellstation again, but keep going right. You’ll need to pogo off some wildflowers to get there, so be ready for some precise platforming.
Now that you know where these explosive beetles are, let’s talk about how to take them out in this indie game gem.
Tips for Taking Down Flintbeetles
Flintbeetles might just be regular enemies, but they’ve got a ton of health and pack a punch with two big AoE (Area of Effect) attacks. Here’s how to dodge them and come out on top:
- Flint Storm: The Flintbeetle launches flintstone chunks that fall nearby, dealing damage if they hit you or bounce off the ground. You can either sprint away or smash the rocks to clear them out.
- Explosive Rush: The beetle charges at you, leaving a dust cloud that lights up from where it started. Getting caught in the cloud or the explosion will hurt Hornet bad. Dash or jump out of the dust fast to stay safe.
Since Flintbeetles are regular enemies, you can hit and run, smacking other nearby enemies to recharge your Silk. With their high health, it’s smart to land a couple of hits, back off, and repeat. This strategy works well in Hollow Knight Silksong’s fast-paced combat.
