Just Cause 4 from Avalanche Studios is the latest addition to the popular open-world action series Just Cause. The game is confirmed to have been finished and ready to launch, and at Microsoft's X018 event last week, a brand new trailer for it was released. The series has always been famous for its ridiculous over-the-top action, and from the trailer, it seems like Just Cause 4 aims to outdo all of its predecessors.

Just Cause 4 Cinematic Trailer

Just Cause 4 takes place on the Island of Solís, where rogue agent Rico Rodriguez, the protagonist of the series, embarks on a new adventure to uncover the truth about his past and his father’s death. The trailer shows Rico facing off against his most dangerous enemies to date: The vicious Black Hand militia, led by the cold-blooded Gabriela. It can also be seen that many features from previous games make a return, like the wingsuit from Just Cause 3. It still allows you to glide mid-air and cover a great distance in a short amount of time, but this time a new mechanic has to be taken into consideration: hostile weather. A storm may hit when you are in the air, which of course will be very dangerous.

Francesco Antolini, the game’s director, also spoke during X2018 about the many skills and abilities that you will have access to in Just Cause 4. The grappling hook has been upgraded, enabling it to attach to more objects. There will also be an improved black market, which can instantly spawn new items and weapons.

The environment of this latest installment has also been expanded to include various biomes such as deserts, snowy mountains, rainforests, and more. It promises to bring a dynamic, interconnected world for players to explore.

Just Cause 4 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 4 this year.
