S-GAME's dark wuxia action RPG Phantom Blade Zero arrives on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC, and console buyers who want a disc will not find one. Pre-orders opened on August 11 as digital only on the PlayStation Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. No global boxed edition has been announced, and major retailers still do not list a PS5 Blu-ray SKU. A China-market collector's set reportedly sold through quickly, but that does not cover other regions.
A digital-only console launch
The Standard Edition costs $59.99 and includes the full game. The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $69.99 and adds the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form outfits, a digital art book, and the soundtrack. Pre-orders unlock the Legacy outfit and Treasure Basin accessory early. The game is a timed PS5 console exclusive for 12 months, so an Xbox version, if one arrives, would not land before late 2027. PC players can buy it on Steam or Epic from day one.
S-GAME first set a September 9 date, then pushed the launch by about 50 days to ship a more finished build. The August 17 State of Play spent nearly 20 minutes on gameplay and still did not mention a disc. Promo material has also shown the digital PS5, not the disc-drive model.
How the combat plays
You play as Soul, a swordsman with a wounded past and only 66 days left to live, moving through a world that mixes martial legend with supernatural threats. Combat is third-person and combo driven, built in Unreal Engine 5, and the studio has said it is not a Soulslike. Fights draw on traditional Chinese martial arts choreography. Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen has advised on the combat since 2023.
Soul can switch among more than 30 primary weapons and more than 20 Phantom Edges taken from fallen foes. Combos are meant to be easy to pick up and deep once you start chaining cancels, counters, and weapon swaps. Levels are handcrafted semi-open zones, not one open world, with bosses built around that arsenal. S-GAME has put the main story at roughly 20 to 30 hours.
