Rockstar's damage control keeps rolling. They're shifting focus to their runner-up blockbuster series, rolling out Red Dead Redemption on Netflix, iOS, and Android in early December. The Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 ports are set to land right around then too.
Word got out first thanks to leaker Wario64, who caught sight of app store entries for iOS and Android tagged "Red Dead Redemption NETFLIX." ESRB ratings for next-gen consoles followed soon after. Screenshots and seemingly legit details started popping up online before Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive dropped any official news, which points to an early slip-up in releasing promo stuff.
Per the formal reveal, Netflix users can snag and fire up the 2010 game—complete with its zombie-themed add-on Undead Nightmare—from December 4, all baked into their current sub with zero extra charge. GTA+ members get the same perk for the next-gen console editions.
Platform Features and Upgrades
The phone and tablet builds run on iOS and Android alike, packing touch controls tuned just for mobile screens. Android preview shots highlight how Rockstar reworked the UI for fingers, shifting the minimap from its usual bottom-left spot over to the top-right to clear space for the virtual buttons that used to crowd it out.
Console folks score the upgraded versions a couple days ahead, hitting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S on December 2.
These refreshed takes pack serious tech boosts, like steady 60 frames per second action, sharper visuals, HDR compatibility, and up to 4K resolution. The Nintendo Switch 2 cut will lean hard into that system's upgraded guts, adding DLSS, HDR, mouse input, and the same silky 60fps at solid res.
The real win for current owners? Rockstar's hooking up free digital upgrades if you've got the game on PlayStation 4, the first Nintendo Switch, or the digital Xbox One edition that plays via backward compatibility. PS4 holders can port over their old saves to jump right back in, while Switch 2 users can carry on from saves on the original Switch.
