Trophy Roadmap
Follow this step-by-step plan to minimize playthroughs while securing all trophies. Use the in-game Endings menu (unlocked after the first completion) to track progress.
Step 1: First Playthrough - Story Difficulty (Action & Puzzle), Collect New Game Items, Ending 1
- Focus: Play on Story difficulty for both Action and Puzzle to learn mechanics. Collect all New Game-exclusive items: Sakuko’s Diary pages (1-3) in Worship Hall, Clinical Trial (1) in Ebisugaoka Fifth Visit, and all available documents/Omamori/Upgrades.
- Endings: Automatically get Ending 1 (Coming Home to Roost)—no special choices needed.
- Trophies Unlocked (approx. 20-25): All story progression trophies up to the ending, Thankful to Be Here (Story completion), Intellectual Pursuits (Story Puzzles), Coming Home to Roost, The Bird that Flies Highest (defeat Shiromuku boss undamaged in Dark Shrine), and collectible-related ones like Fervent Collector (if all Inventory Upgrades grabbed).
- Time: 8-10 hours. Save often; missables here (e.g., boss-specific feats) require restarts if skipped.
Step 2: NG+ Playthrough - Hard Puzzle / Story Action, Collect NG+ Items, Endings 2, 3, & 5
- Focus: Set Puzzle to Hard (for Wise Researcher trophy) and Action to Story (stacks with Step 1). Collect NG+-exclusive items: Sakuko’s Diary (4-6), Clinical Trial (2). Save one Ema for NG+2 to unlock an extra Omamori slot. Use manual saves to branch for multiple endings without full replays (e.g., save before key decisions like purifying the Sacred Sword).
- Endings:
- Ending 2 (Fox’s Wedding): No Red Capsules used, purify Sacred Sword (or skip it), pick up Agura no Hotei-Sama vial.
- Ending 3 (The Fox Wets Its Tail): No Red Capsules, acquire but do not purify Sacred Sword.
- Ending 5 (The Great Space Invasion!): Listen to UFO Radio (Ebisugaoka First Visit), read 3 Movie Posters + Review (Ebisugaoka Third Visit) in order. (This isn't a "full" ending for progression.)
- Trophies Unlocked (approx. 15-20): Fox’s Wedding, The Fox Wets Its Tail, The Great Space Invasion!, Wise Researcher, boss feats like Fox Tamer (Ending 3 undamaged) and Puppetmaster (Ending 2), plus NG+ collectibles (e.g., document sets for The Truth about the Tsuneki Family).
- Time: 10-12 hours. Branch saves save time—reload for 2-3 endings per run.
Step 3: NG+2 Playthrough - Lost in the Fog (Action & Puzzle), Collect Remaining Items, Ending 4
- Focus: Tackle the hardest mode now—you'll have max upgrades (e.g., 5 Omamori slots via saved Ema) and weapons like the PP-8001 (unlocked post-Ending 5). Collect NG+2 documents for final trophy sets. Equip combat-boosting Omamori (Beetle, Boar, Rabbit, Serpent, Suzuran).
- Endings: Ending 4 (Ebisugaoka in Silence)—requires a save with 2+ full endings (1-3); no Red Capsules, purify Sacred Sword, offer Brooch to Ancient Jizo Statue (Ebisugaoka Fifth Visit).
- Trophies Unlocked (approx. 10-15): Ebisugaoka in Silence (Gold), Clear Skies (Lost in the Fog Action), Puzzle Master (Lost in the Fog Puzzle), God Slayer (defeat Tsukumogami & Kyubi in <10 min), all remaining collectibles (e.g., Omamori Sage for 17 Hidden Omamori, Close to the Sun for 18 Ema).
- Time: 8-10 hours. This is the grindiest step—practice bosses.
Step 4: Cleanup (Optional Partial Playthrough)
- Focus: Load a Clear Save from NG+2. Replay sections for missed missables (e.g., undamaged escapes like Like the Fleeing Hare or Untouchable). No new endings needed.
- Trophies Unlocked: Any stragglers, like Acupuncture Specialist (perfect scarecrow puzzle).
- Time: 2-4 hours.
Upon completing all steps, the Platinum (I Still Have Wings) pops. Total playthroughs: 3 full + partials.
