Boots are a type of armor that covers the feet of the player. They are one of the more important pieces of equipment in Minecraft, as some enchantments are exclusive and can only be applied to them. This includes some of the more useful features such as feather falling. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the 6 useful boot enchantments in Minecraft 1.19

1. Protection IV

Overall, Protection is the stock enchantment you need to get on all your armor pieces and not just boots. This enchantment reduces damage taken from all sources, including lava, explosion and even fall damage. Multiple sources of damage reduction can stack up to an upper limit of 80%.

Protection, Blast Protection, Fire Protection, and Projectile Protection are mutually exclusive. Players need console commands to apply them to an item.

2. Mending

Mending is a universally useful enchantment that can be applied to all kinds of gears with durability. It is even more popular than protection. With it active, the boots will automatically use the XP players earn in-game to repair themselves. Combine that with an XP farm and the boots would become indestructible.

Mending Level
The highest level of enchantment for mending in Minecraft is level I.

It counts as a treasure enchantment; it can be obtained from chest loot, fishing, or trading with a Librarian of any level. Players cannot obtain it from an enchanting table.

3. Feather Falling IV

Fall damage is one of the more common ways to die in Minecraft. Feather Falling is an enchantment to boots that reduces fall damage. It does not affect falling speed. Each level of Feather Falling reduces fall damage by 12%, up to 48% at level IV, which can stack up with Protection on armors to a maximum of 80%, since the latter also reduces fall damage.

This enchantment also works against the damage taken from Ender Pearl's teleportation.

4. Soul Speed III

The Soul Sand Valley is one of the deadliest places in the Nether. The place is filled with Ghasts and skeletons, which is pretty deadly when combined with the slowing effect of soul sand and soul soil.

Soul Speed is a boot-only enchantment that reverses the debuff and increases your speed while walking in the Soul Sand Valley. It can't be obtained normally through enchantment tables, however - you must barter for Soul Speed from Piglins.

5. Frost Walker II

Frost Walker is an enchantment to boots that creates frosted ice blocks when walking over water. It also prevents the wearer from taking damage when stepping on certain blocks such as campfires and magma blocks. This works only if the player is on the ground.‌ The water blocks must also be on the same level as the block being moved to in order to become ice. Take note that this enchantment does not protect you from normal lava.

In terms of incompatibility, the Frost Walker enchantment and Depth Strider are mutually exclusive. That means you can only enchant your boots with one of these two enchantments. However, you can still have both if you use commands (in Creative mode).

6. Depth Strider III

To put it simply, Depth Strider is a boot enchantment that increases your horizontal movement speed underwater in Minecraft. This enchantment removes the movement speed down debuff when you're underwater.

In case you don't know, you're counted as standing underwater if your character's head is submerged. Unless you have necessary enchantments like Respiration, you will drown after 15 seconds. However, even when you can stay longer underwater, you need an enchantment to move faster. That's when Depth Strider comes into use.
