As reported by Bloomberg, CDPR stock price on 28 April 2020 was 368 PLN. This brings Marcin Iwinski a total asset of over 4.4 Billion PLN from his 12,150,000 shares in the company - which can convert to over 1.05 Billion USD. He comes in at number 9 of the top 10 richest people in Poland. Michal Kicinski, CD Projekt’s second-biggest shareholder, also enjoys a net worth of over $900 Million.
CDPR’s best known for their gamer-friendly business policies, saying no to microtransactions. The company negates any microtransactions in The Witcher Game Series, and plans to do exactly the same in their upcoming game “Cyberpunk 2077”. Though “The Witcher” does offer paid-DLCs, they provide enough content as compared to the price. Some may even argue that these DLCs are decent games on their own.
Believe it or not, Marcin Iwinski isn’t the only billionaire in the gaming industry. There are many more, some of them you may find very familiar with, namely Ma Huateng, chairman of the Chinese Internet giant Tencent Holdings - the distributor of PUBG Mobile in the Indian market. His real-time assets surpass the number of $48 Billion, making him the second richest man in China and the 20th in the world (Forbes, 2020).
Forrest Li - Garena Founder and CEO, the distributor of Free Fire, is also a billionaire with a net worth of $2.5 Billion. And let’s not forget Gabe Newell, the former developer of Microsoft and now the Chairman of Valve Corp., the company that owns Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota2, and the famous digital distribution Steam. Gabe possesses a quarter of Valve, which directly translates to a net worth of $3.5 Billion.
