Cat Bird is not exactly a new game, it was released quite a while back for both Android and iOS. But since this cool platforming game went relatively under the radar and we feel like it doesn’t receive as much attention as it deserves, we’ve decided that now is as good a time as any to introduce it to you.

First thing first, check out the trailer for the game below:

So, as you can see, this is a game with an adorable pixel design in which you become Cat Bird, a white kitten with wings capable of gliding a short distance. Now, you are lost and have to try to find your way home by overcoming various platforming challenges.

When you open the game for the first time, you’ll be greeted by a polished user interface and a straightforward control scheme: On the bottom left of your screen are 2 virtual buttons for moving to the sides, and on the bottom right is another button to control jumping.

A straightforward control scheme

Despite that, Cat Bird is not an easy game by any means. All the usual obstacles that you often seen in games of this genre are there, from deep water and fireballs to spinning blades and spike traps and more. As a result, you should be prepared to watch our cute feline protagonist die a lot.  Some longer levels do have checkpoints, but for the most part, every time you die, you have to start over from the beginning.

Plenty of deadly obstacles to overcome

Platformers are not as simple as getting from this point to that point, though. Throughout the levels, there are crowns intentionally positioned in places that are very hard to reach or hidden out of sight, forcing you to go out of your way to get them if you are a completionist who wants to do everything there is to do in games you play.

A game that’s free, playable offline, and has great gameplay is actually not something you see very often on the mobile market these days, but luckily, Cat Bird fits nicely into that description. Thus, if you are a fan of the classic platformers such as Sonic, Mario, or Crash Bandicoot, you should definitely give this one a try.
