EVE: Echoes, the mobile spin-off of the massively popular MMO EVE Online from developer CCP, will be entering a closed alpha period on August 26th. This closed alpha will last until the 20th of September, but it will only be available in a few selected regions, namely New Zealand, Australia, and the Nordic nations. Still, this means that the development progress of the game is going nicely and we won’t have to wait too long before we can get our hands on this mobile space exploration game.
Originally announced back in 2018, EVE: Echoes promised to deliver a huge sandbox world in which players will have total freedom to experience its excellent stories. Naturally, other features that you might expect from a game of this type such as spaceship battles, resource gathering, exploration and trading will all be present.
The game is the result of a partnership between CCP and renowned Chinese company NetEase Games, who provided the graphics engine, NeoX. NetEase has had a pretty long history in the field with plenty of popular titles to its name, and the company is currently also working with Blizzard to help develop the upcoming Diablo: Immortal.
EVE: Echoes will be available on both Android and iOS, but being a massive open-world game, it is likely to be quite hardware-demanding. You are advised to run it on at least a Samsung S8 or an iPhone 6.
If you happen to be living in one of the countries where the closed alpha is available and have a device of sufficient power, you can head over to the game’s official website to sign up for a chance to participate. Of course, registering doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get selected, but you know what they say: You miss all the shots you don’t take. It doesn’t cost anything, so might as well try your luck!
