Shikanoin Heizou is a 4-star Anemo Catalyst character in Genshin Impact. He is one of the most unique characters in the game, who fights with Anemo-infused martial arts. Heizou's complete kit has been leaked and he is a main DPS character, dealing damage with supports from off-field sub-DPS.

Heizou's banner is part of 2.8 patch. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the best Genshin Impact Heizou build guide in 2022, including talents, gears and team comp.

Genshin Impact Heizou Build

1. Heizou Genshin Impact Guide

Heizou is a young detective from the Tenryou Commission. Free-spirited and unruly, but cheerful and lively. At first glance, Heizou seems like an ordinary young man, but he is actually the undisputed number one detective in the Tenryou Commission.

Skill: Heartstopper Strike (CD: 10s)

Heizou Elemental Skill
  • Tap: Punches forward, dealing Anemo DMG.
  • Hold: Prepares a stronger blow, gaining 1 stack of Declension every 0.75 seconds it is held to a maximum of 4 stacks. The more stacks he has, the higher the damage. At max stacks, Heizou's skill gains the Conviction effect that makes the strike stronger and increases its AoE. Declension stacks can be gained by triggering swirl reactions.

Heartstopper Strike is Heizou's main method of dealing damage. Combined with his A1 talent, he can deal fairly decent damage with a max stack Heartstopper Strike. If you fully stack E through Swirls, you can tap E and still get the full effect. Stacks remain for up to 60 seconds, even if Heizou is off-field.

It is recommended that you level Heizou to 90, as Swirl DMG increases based on level.

Burst: Windmuster Kick (CD: 12s)

Heizou Elemental Burst

Heizou jumps in the air, and sends out an explosive kick that deals AoE Anemo DMG and pulls in nearby opponents. When it interacts with Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo, an opponent will be afflicted with a Windmuster Iris.

The Iris explodes after a moment and deals AoE DMG of the absorbed element. A maximum of 4 opponents can be afflicted by an Iris. A single opponent cannot be under the effect of more than one Iris at a time. Overall, his Burst should be used to set up his skill.

Heizou's burst scales quadratically, meaning that when one enemy gets hit, that instance can splash to other nearby enemies. 2 enemies = 4 instances of damage. This means the more enemies you can catch with his burst, the higher the damage splashing between them.

Ascension passive:

  • Paradoxical Practice: When triggering a Swirl while on the field, Heizou gains 1 Declension stack.
  • Penetrative Reasoning: When his skill hits an opponent, all allies (besides Heizou) gain 80 EM for 10 seconds.

2. Heizou constellations and talent priority

His constellations are not that special.

Constellations

Overall, Heizou's C1 is the most useful, as Heizou usually enters the field after the support characters cast their off-field skills. It also gives him an extra Declension stack, making his combo more consistent.

C1: Named Juvenile Casebook (CD: 10s) For 5 seconds after entering the field, gain 15% ATK speed. Furthermore, gain 1 stack of Declension.
C2: Investigative Collection The pull of his burst is strengthened and its duration increased to 1s.
C3: Esoteric Puzzle Book Increase the level of his skill by 3.
C4: Tome of Lies The first Iris explosion of each burst will regenerate 9 energy. Every subsequent explosion will regenerate an additional 1.5 energy. One burst can regenerate 13.5 energy in this manner.
C5: Secret Archive Increase the level of his burst by 3.
C6: Curious Caseflies Each stack of Declension increases the crit rate of his skill by 4%. When Heizou is at max stacks, the crit DMG of his skill is increased by 32%.

The rest of the constellations are not that strong, outside of C6. If players manage to reach C6, Heizou's Heartstopper Strike would be able to deal some insane damage.

Talent Priority

Heizou is a DPS character who mainly deals damage with his powerful elemental skill. Players should max it first then focus on his normal attack and burst.

3. Genshin Impact Heizou build: Artifact Guide

Best Artifact for Heizou

Viridescent Venerer x4 is the best artifact set for Heizou without equal. The 40% RES shred makes this set extremely valuable in most scenarios. Alternatively, you can use Viridescent Venerer x2 + Gladiators' Finale x2 if you are struggling to get good stats on your Venerer pieces.

Viridescent Venerer is the best set for Heizou

Recommended Artifact Main Stats

The following 3 options are the best for Heizou's main stats (for sands, goblet and crown:

  • Elemental Mastery / Anemo DMG Bonus / Elemental Mastery
  • 3x Elemental Mastery
  • Attack % / Anemo DMG Bonus / Elemental Mastery

Recommended Artifact Sub Stats

Sub stats, for the most part, are straightforward. You want more EM when facing multiple targets and more Crit/ATK% when facing single target.

  • Multi-Target Priority AND/OR high ATK% from weapon/main stats: EM > ATK% > Crit
  • Single Target Priority: Crit >= ATK% > EM
Heizou does not actually attack using his catalyst.

4. Genshin Impact Heizou build: Weapon Guide

Here are the best weapons for Heizou:

Skyward Atlas Increases Elemental DMG Bonus by 12%. Normal Attack hits have a 50% chance to earn the favor of the clouds which actively seek out nearby enemies to attack for 15s. Dealing 160% ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 30s.
Weapon Substitute
Lost Prayer To The Sacred Winds Increases Movement SPD by 10%. When in battle, gain an 8% Elemental DMG Bonus every 4s. Max 4 stacks. Lasts until the character falls or leaves combat.
The Widsith When the character takes the field, they will gain a random theme song for 10s. This can only occur once every 30s. Recitative: ATK is increased by 60%, Aria: Increases all Elemental DMG by 48%. Interlude: Elemental Mastery is increased by 240.
Solar Pearl Normal Attack hits increase Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG by 20% for 6s. Likewise, Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst hits increase Normal Attack DMG by 20% for 6s.
Mappa Mare Triggering an elemental reaction grants an 8% Elemental DMG bonus for 10s. Max 2 stacks.

The Memory of Dust catalyst can also deal good damage if he is shielded.

5. What are the best teams for Heizou?

Powerful off-field supports are perfect for Heizou teams.

Standard Electro Charged

  • Shikanoin Heizou + Yelan/Xingqiu + Yae Miko/Beidou + Fischl/Kuki Shinobu

This team comp provides consistent damage by making use of Heizou's constant swirl interactions with off-field DPS. The use of Xingqiu, Beidou and Fischl make the team fairly f2p friendly. Realistically, Fischl should be able to keeps up with Beidou and Yae's ER issues.

Players can also replace an electro character with Bennett, as his heal and buff are always useful. Kuki Shinobu is still the best healer for an Electro-Charged team of course.

National Heizou Team

  • Shikanoin Heizou + Xiangling + Xingqiu + Bennett

Heizou can easily be the main damage dealer in a national lineup. You will need Emblem Of Severed Fate x4 on Xiangling and Xingqiu. This team is good for both single and multi target. Players probably already have their National Team ready for Heizou to be added in.

However, it is also a weakness, as Xiangling + Xingqiu + Bennett are commonly played characters and may cause issues for other teams.

Heizou Double Hydro

  • Shikanoin Heizou + Yelan + Xingqiu + Bennett/Zhongli

This team has very strong single target damage, with support from both Yelan and Xingqiu. Bennett will provide better buffs, Zhongli provides shielding and petrify. It has the same weakness as nationals, as Yelan and Xingqiu are all commonly used characters in teams.

Heizou Anemo Team

  • Shikanoin Heizou + Jean/Anemo Traveler + Zhongli + Bennett/Yun Jin

This is a fun team that boosts Heizou's personal DMG. Overall not recommended for best team comps. Anemo Traveler shreds 20% Anemo RES at C6, Jean shreds 40% at C4. Players can run both for fun, of course.

Yun Jin provides Geo resonance + Normal attack bonus DMG while Bennett heals and buffs. Zhongli is just the last flex pick.
