HoYoverse just put out a five-minute cinematic trailer called “Song of the Welkin Moon Teaser: Moonlit Ballad of the Night,” giving us a peek at Nod-Krai. This icy region is tucked away in the lower part of Snezhnaya, packed with secrets, lore, and a bunch of moon-related stuff. It’s set to drop with Version 6.0 as part of the 5.8 update plan. The trailer showed off 11 characters—some familiar faces fans have been waiting for and a few fresh ones. It also hints at moon myths, some oddball factions, and a bigger story simmering beneath it all.
Genshin Impact Nod-Krai Trailer: Lore and Factions
The trailer dives deep into moon lore. There’s talk of a “Primordial Being” who made three moons way back when, but now only one’s left, called the “Frost Moon.” This moon seems super important in Nod-Krai, maybe tied to its magic and elemental powers.
Then there’s the factions. The Lightkeepers are battling something called the Wild Hunt, which is connected to the Abyss. Meanwhile, the Frostmoon Scions are like a rebel crew obsessed with the moon, doing some strange lunar rituals. The Hexenzirkel witches, including names like Alice and Nicole, are also in the mix. None of these groups seem to get along.
Characters That Were Shown
- Varka – Mondstadt’s Grand Master, swinging a claymore with an Anemo Vision. He’s finally stepping into the spotlight.
- Alice – Klee’s mom and a Hexenzirkel member. She’s a heavy-hitting Pyro user, definitely not your typical NPC.
- Nicole Reeyn (N) – A quiet Cryo witch who’s been in the lore for a while.
- Lauma – Part of the Frostmoon Scions, uses Dendro, and seems into spiritual moon stuff.
- Flins – Wields an Electro polearm and fights for the Lightkeepers. Likely one of the first 6.0 banners.
- Aino – Built a robot named Ineffa, uses Hydro and a claymore, and is all about mechanics.
- Durin – Was a dragon, now a human with a Pyro Vision. Probably some alchemy involved.
- Nefer – A Dendro dude tied to the Voynich Guild. Not much is known about him.
- Jahoda – An explorer type, possibly Dendro too, hanging out with Aino and Durin.
- Columbina – Third Harbinger, known as the Moon Maiden. Definitely up to some Fatui business.
- Sandrone – Seventh Harbinger with a knack for automatons, playing a bigger role now.
What’s Coming Up
The Nod-Krai story will unfold across several versions under the “Song of the Welkin Moon” arc, from 6.0 to 6.6. Characters will roll out in phases, starting with Flins, Lauma, Aino, Durin, and Nefer, followed by Varka, Columbina, Nicole, and Alice. There’s also mention of a White Horse Fairy, called the Ruler of Time, but details are scarce.
All in all, Nod-Krai looks like one of Genshin’s biggest expansions yet. With all the moon lore, big-name characters, and fresh story arcs, this frozen land is shaping up to be a game-changer.
