Mojang just revealed Minecraft: Blast, a new mobile game set in the familiar blocky Minecraft universe, developed together with King (the studio behind Candy Crush). Naturally, a lot of people want to try it before the official launch. This looks like a casual side game that players can pair with playing actual Minecraft.

Here’s the current way to play Minecraft: Blast early

Mojang and King are teaming up on Minecraft: Blast, a free-to-play mobile title that mixes classic match-3 puzzle action with constantly changing levels built around Minecraft themes. Like Candy Crush, it’s designed for quick pick-up-and-play sessions while still letting you create and customize your own Minecraft-style areas.

That’s why plenty of players are eager to get in early. Right now the developers are running a limited playtest only in Malaysia and Canada, with plans to add more countries later. The first wave is iOS-only and available in English (Malaysia) plus English and French (Canada).

When the official beta sign-up link goes live on the Minecraft website, here’s what you do:

  • Grab the TestFlight app from the App Store.
  • Open the Minecraft: Blast preview link (make sure spots are still open).
  • Sign up using your Microsoft account.
  • Wait for an email with the invitation.
  • Tap “View in TestFlight” (or the direct link) and hit Install.

That gets the playtest build onto your iOS device.

For now the test is iOS-exclusive, but the teams have said more platforms are coming soon. This playtest gives fans a chance to try a slice of the game and its main mechanics before launch. There’s still no firm release date for Minecraft: Blast, but the fact that testing has started means development is moving along nicely. Keep an eye on official updates from Mojang and King for news on when the full game finally hits the app stores.
