To rack up free carats, coins, and other key currencies in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you’ve got to tackle as many quests as possible. Most of these quests are tied to career mode, so getting good at them is a must for any player aiming to boost their game progress.

There’s a bunch of quests that ask you to win specific races just once in Umamusume. One of the trickiest is the Teio Sho race, a tough challenge since no horse girl in the game naturally excels at it. But with some smart strategies, you can pull off a win and claim those rewards.

What is the Teio Sho?

The Teio Sho is a Medium race on a Dirt track held in late June during your Senior year. It takes place at the Oi racetrack, a right-handed G1 track. Right now, in the Global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, only Haru Urara is built for dirt races. Problem is, she’s a sprinter, so stretching her to handle a longer race like this is a real hurdle. This makes winning the Teio Sho a serious test of your skills.

How to Win the Teio Sho in Umamusume

Your best shot at taking first place in the Teio Sho race comes down to two horse girls: Oguri Cap and Taiki Shuttle. Oguri Cap is the only one with a high enough Dirt stat to have a solid chance at victory. Other horse girls might be decent at Medium or Dirt races, but they often have required races that clash with the Teio Sho in career mode. If you don’t have these two, here’s a list of horse girls with no scheduling conflicts:

  • Oguri Cap
  • Taiki Shuttle
  • Super Creek
  • Special Week
  • Curren Chan
  • Daiwa Scarlet
  • Haru Urara
  • King Halo
  • Maruzensky
  • Mihono Bourbon
  • Symboli Rudolf
  • Tokai Teio
  • Vodka

Without Oguri Cap or Taiki Shuttle, winning this race is going to be rough. If you’re missing them, try using an Umamusume search tool to find user IDs with the red Dirt Spark to boost another runner’s Dirt stat to at least B.

How to Build Oguri Cap to Win Teio Sho

To make Oguri Cap or Taiki Shuttle ready for the Teio Sho, you’ll need to use Legacy Uma to push their Dirt stat to A. For Taiki Shuttle, also get her Medium stat to at least B. Once those are set, focus on pumping up Stamina and Speed while giving your runner enough Wit to trigger her skills. Lean on stamina and speed-focused support cards like these:

  • SSR Kitasan Black (Fire at My Heels)
    • Corner Adept ○
    • Corner Recovery ○
    • Straightaway Recovery
  • Special Week (The Setting Sun And Rising Stars)
    • Homestretch Haste
    • Hydrate (Taiki Shuttle)
    • Gourmand (Taiki Shuttle)
  • Late Surger Savvy ◯ (Oguri Cap)
    • Outer Swell (Oguri Cap)
    • Steadfast
  • Vodka (Wild Rider)
    • Homestretch Haste
    • Straightaway Adept
    • Straightaway Recovery
    • Breath of Fresh Air
    • Nimble Navigator

By building your horse girl with these support cards and focusing on the right stats, you’ll have a much better shot at mastering the Teio Sho and grabbing those sweet rewards.
