Death Come True, the newest offering from Izanagi, is reportedly coming to Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch next year. The news was first spotted by Gematsu.

As you can see from the trailer of the game, which we have included below, Death Come True is a full-motion game featuring Japanese actor Kanata Hongo and actress Chiaki Kuriyama in the lead roles. It is both written and directed by Kazutaka Kodaka, creator of the Danganronpa series.

From what’s been revealed so far, the setting of the game will be a mysterious hotel. You’ll become a wanted serial killer named Makoto Karaki, (portrayed by Hongo) who’s suffering from amnesia. And to make things even more complicated, he has somehow acquired the ability to travel back through time to return to a point in the past. The catch here, however, is that this ability can only be triggered upon his own death.

Yes, that mechanic is pretty grim, but it’ll allow you to replay a scenario that you’ve played past and make a different decision if you so wish. Not only that, but you’ll also have another character to contend with: A woman that Makoto found tied up in the bathtub of the hotel room he woke up in, who later turns out to be a police investigator named Akane Sachimura (played by Kuriyama).

The soundtrack of the game, meanwhile, is made by the highly-acclaimed Masafumi Takada, who also worked on the music of several other titles including Killer7, The Evil Within, and Danganronpa.

Kodaka definitely knows how to make a great murder/mystery game, as is evident from his previous works Danganronpa: Trigger Happy and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, so we are pretty excited for Death Come True. The swerve towards full-motion is no doubt intriguing as well, and come to think of it, we’ve actually got quite a few full-motion games of late, namely She Sees Red or Simulacra 2. If you are a fan of the genre, be sure to check those games out while waiting for Death Come True to arrive next year.
