Although PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been available on the market for a relatively long time now, with how popular the game has become, it continues to attract new players every day. So, if you are one of those newcomers or are looking for some opinions and suggestions, here are a few tips to help you survive longer on the Erangel map.
Erangel was the first map ever released in PUBG, and it is among the more balanced ones out the game’s current 4 maps. It contains a little bit of everything, from high terrain to grassy patches and water and more. It’s not too cramped like Sanhok, and even though it actually has the same size as Miramar, the layout makes Erangel doesn’t seem as wide.
Now, your gear will have a huge impact on your chance of winning so you will want to get weapons and other equipment of as high quality as you can possibly get your hands on. We have summarized some of the best places to find loot in Erangel, check it out!
Still, if you are not too confident in your shooting skills yet, then the better strategy is probably going to places that are far away from the center of the safe zone since it’s where most of the action takes place. Consider going to these underrated loot spots instead. The gear in these places might not be the best, but for the most part, it should be able to get you through the early stage of the match. Another thing to note: If you plan to take this approach, it’s highly recommended that you keep a vehicle close by. This will help you get from place to place more easily to find more optimal loot, and also allow you to quickly get back inside the safe circle if needed.
This method is perfect if you want to avoid conflicts early on and survive until the midgame. Of course, you will probably still run into enemies here and there, but the number of unpleasant encounters will be significantly lower than if you come to a hotspot, as these tend to attract lots of other players.
That being said, you can always try going to the higher priority places for a chance to get the best gear. The risk will be high, but so is the reward. If you do manage to come out alive, it will likely be with the most powerful guns and the toughest armor, which will give you a huge edge over others for the rest of the match.
Camping is another useful strategy for you if you don’t have a lot of experience in PUBG and in shooting games in general. It’s true that this strategy is often looked down upon as “noob” or “boring”, but no one can deny its effectiveness. If you have watched The Hunger Games, or any survival movie for that matter, you will see that the aggressive blokes usually die early. The survivors are the ones who hide and run. Luckily, Erangel has many spots that are good for camping, but it all depends on the situation of each match. Generally, just lie low somewhere you are not likely to be seen, wait for others to get close, then take them down with a carefully-aimed shot. The underground bunkers make for some great hiding spots too. They are located near the Shooting Range, but are not visible on the minimap. Always remember, PUBG is not about killing, it’s about surviving until the very end.
One area that you need to pay special attention to is the bridges that connect the islands. They are favorite places of campers, so be extra careful if you need to go through. Don’t forget to look up as well, since some people like to climb alongside the railings. On the other hand, you can also do the same to ambush others. Check the video below to see how to do it. It might take some practice, so be patient!
In term of weapons, Erangel is pretty balanced and there is no particular weapon that will break the game. In general, you should keep both an Assault Rifle and a Sniper Rifle to be able to deal meaningful damage in every situation.
All in all, Erangel is a good map to start playing in if you are new to PUBG. Learning to survive here will help you improve in every aspect of the game.
