Way back in 2015, developer Nathanael Weiss from Wizard Fu Games had a successful crowdfunding idea that he had been having, which, at its core, is basically “What would happen if the original The Legend of Zelda changed with every time you play?" That eventually resulted in the action game Songbringer, which launched in 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 before making its way to Nintendo Switch last year.

The premise of the game stays really close to the original concept:  it’s very similar to The Legend of Zelda, but each time you open it, it’s different. Moreover, to make the game stand out, Weiss also added a ton of style and plenty of secrets for players to discover, and with just a pinch of Sword & Sworcery weirdness sprinkled on top for good measure. The end product is a game that is basically Zelda, but at the same time it is also a standalone game in its own right.

So anyways, a mobile version for Songbringer was planned right from the get-go. However, ever since the game launched on PC, we never heard anything about a release window for this mobile release – until a few days ago, that is. Last week, the developer announced on the game’s Kickstarter page that an open beta for the iOS version of Songbringer had become available. The key word to look at here is “open", which means that even if you were not a backer, you are still able to go to Testflight to check the game out. And of course, you can support the developer by giving feedback on how you feel, what your experience is like, etc.

An open beta is now available for iOS users

There is still no official launch date revealed for Songbringer mobile at the moment, but the beta runs incredibly smoothly so it probably won’t be too far off. Stay tuned for more updates.
