The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands originally launched for iOS over a year ago to a pretty warm reception. Now, it has finally made its way to the Google Play Store, so Android users can get their hands on it right now to see what it’s all about.

In case you haven’t heard about this game, The Bonfire: Forsaken Lands is a hybrid between a strategy and a survival title. The presentation appears quite simple at first glance, but as you actually play it, you’ll gradually start to peel off layer after layer to uncover more complicated mechanics.

The game sees you becoming the leader of a small tribe trying to survive in a harsh environment. At the beginning, things are as easy as gathering enough wood to feed the bonfire and stay warm through the night, but soon enough, it will escalate into a fully-fledged war against all sorts of nightmarish creatures that lurks beyond the boundaries of your encampment. In order to survive, you'll have to properly manage your gang of miners, woodcutters, and guards.

The real challenge comes from the pacing of the game. While many other survival games usually feel like they grow as you do, The Bonfire gives off the feeling that it simply advances on its own without caring at all about you, and every time it escalates, it kind of does so unexpectedly.

That means you are always pushed to gather more resource, be it food for your people, materials to put up more building and advance technology, and weapons to defend yourself.  A balance between all three is needed if you want to keep your people healthy enough to endure against the overwhelming odds.
