Alicia Silverstone, the actress who played Batgirl in the 1997 DC movie Batman & Robin has just shared her story about getting body-shamed for having trouble fitting in her suit on set of the movie. Some of you might recognize her through the movie "Clueless " as Cher.
Talking about her feeling while working on the movie at the time, Alicia Silverstone said: "That definitely wasn't my favorite filmmaking experience," because the media focused too much on her weigh. She was even asked about her bra size in one interview.
Alicia Silverstone was only 21 years old at the time and that was really hurtful for her, but she wasn't confused because she knew that they were wrong to make fun of her body. However, due to this horrible experience, she has lost her love for acting "for a very long time" after done filming the movie.
Luckily, Alicia Silverstone got her passion back thanks for a role in a David Mamet play, which she loved it. Now, having grown out of her insecurity, she has become an activist and got back on the big screen. Her latest project is a drama comedy movie called "Bad Therapy," which was released a few days ago.
Batman & Robin featured a strong cast with many famous actors such as George Clooney, Uma Thurman, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, the movie received bad reviews from critics for the bad story and relied too much on visual effects. The movie even brought Alicia Silverstone a Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Supporting Actor in 1997.
