10 Things You Might Have Missed In GTA 6 Trailer

The initial GTA 6 trailer arrived with more excitement than expected. Unfortunately, a leaked version surfaced online before the official release, prompting Rockstar to unveil the 91-second segment around 15 hours earlier than scheduled. As a result, there might be a few details you overlooked.

We've extensively reviewed our first substantial look at modern-day Vice City numerous times. From this analysis, we've pinpointed elements we deem significant—whether they hint at the game's storyline, gameplay mechanics, or just stand out as impressive. Amid this cityscape reminiscent of Miami, there's a wealth of noteworthy content, so here are 12 things you might have overlooked in the GTA 6 trailer debut.

1. The female MC is called Lucia

This installment introduces two primary characters, with Lucia, the female protagonist, prominently featured and introduced by name at the outset of the trailer. Her appearance in a prison inmate uniform suggests a pre-existing criminal history.

While the male character remains unnamed, leaked information had referred to him as Jason. Strong implications point towards their relationship as a couple, notably shown with Lucia atop a shirtless individual assumed to be 'Jason.' A voiceover emphasizes their unity, stating, "the only way we're getting through this is sticking together," followed by both characters affirming "trust."

2. The GTA 6 map is larger than just Vice City

The 90-second trailer includes various confirmed location names showcased through road signs, news updates, and other visual cues. Previous leaks hinted at 'Leonida' as a potential state in GTA 6, and the trailer offers substantial confirmations through news reports referencing a 'Leonida man,' reminiscent of the 'Florida Man' meme.

Additionally, a social media post mentions a peculiar driving apology specific to Leonida. Road signs highlight Kelly County, Catalan Boulevard, VCI airport, Vice Beaches, Port VC/Keys, and apparent city districts named Stockyard and Downtown. Although the map appears significantly expanded from the original Vice City, certain shots distinctly depict updated versions of Starfish Island and the original Ocean Beach area, reminiscent of the 2002 visit to Vice City.

3. Lots of things to do

If Vice City and its surroundings are anything like GTA 5 (which seems likely), you'll need more than a life of crime to keep busy. Fortunately, the first GTA 6 trailer hints at numerous diversions.

Beyond seizing the variety of vehicles mentioned earlier (can't wait to try the hover boat and dodge crocs), it appears there'll be car gatherings, chances to hit strip clubs, visit DJ-hosted clubs, throw pool parties, attend drag races, or join the Thrillbilly Mud Club (essentially beer-drinking and getting really muddy). These glimpses are just from the trailer, so it's uncertain if they'll all be activities available for players yet.

4. There are a lot of different vehicles

We've always expected Rockstar games to feature an extensive array of vehicles to steal and take for a joyride, and even within this 90-second trailer, there's an abundance to take note of.

Here's a rundown of the vehicles spotted so far: jumbo jets, speedboats, trucks, vehicles capable of towing boats, yachts, jet skis, quad bikes, biplanes, helicopters, hovercraft, amphibious helicopters, cargo ships, motorcycles, cruise ships, seaplanes, monster trucks, alongside a wide variety of sports cars, pick-up trucks, minivans, vans, and other more conventional automobiles.

5. Social Media is going to play a big part in the game

Considering the gap between the last game release and now, it was expected that technology would have a more significant role in GTA 6, and the initial trailer strongly supports this notion. While GTA 5, released in 2013, reflected that era through its versions of Facebook and Twitter – Lifeinvader and Bleeter respectively – GTA 6 seems to introduce a video-sharing platform reminiscent of TikTok, hinted at throughout the trailer.

The trailer showcases scenes like revelers partying on a high-speed yacht, an engineer pulling a live alligator from a pool, and an enthusiastic woman dancing atop a moving car (complete with emojis and a celebratory #have.a.vice.day). Viral videos play a central role, with NPCs seemingly reacting to being recorded. How freely players can capture real-time footage on the streets of Vice (and beyond) remains uncertain, but the setting clearly embodies present-day Vice City.

6. Is base jumping coming back?

However, what catches attention in the initial frames is a substantial radio tower or antenna against the backdrop of a sunset haze. It strongly resembles a prime setup for reintroducing base jumping, a popular activity in GTA 5 and initially featured in the GTA 4 DLC - The Ballad of Gay Tony. While this remains speculative, it raises the question quite prominently.

7. There's a ton of wildlife here - from dogs to alligators

If GTA 6 aims to replicate the entirety of Florida, there's a possibility of encountering wildlife akin to Red Dead Redemption 2. Dogs are confirmed, evidenced by a small chihuahua spotted running along the beach. Additionally, flamingos, alligators, dolphins, and sharks are featured in the trailer.

If the Florida Everglades are included, strongly suggested by an airboat startling flamingos as it speeds by, it opens up a vast expanse of diverse habitats. In reality, this region is home to panthers, bears, deer, turtles, manatees, and a plethora of other species. This hints that GTA 6 might boast an extensive and varied animal population.

8. At least three factions or gangs confirmed

It seems evident that we've been introduced to at least three distinct groups, explicitly named as the Thrillbilly Mud Club and High Rollerz Lifestyle. The former seems to be a community engaged in dirt truck mud racing, while the latter is depicted as a street racing clique utilizing high-performance vehicles. Additionally, there appears to be a gang of cyclists and ATV riders speeding down a road together, alongside a news report referencing a dirt bike gang causing disturbances in "dirt city."

9. First person mode

A short segment featuring body cam footage strongly resembles a first-person perspective, although it's uncertain if it's merely a news excerpt or a playable section. The footage depicts a police raid on a house, seemingly unrelated to either of the main characters, unless there's a significant plot twist in their background. The nature of body cam footage inherently resembles a first-person angle, which adds to the ambiguity of the scene. Considering GTA 5 introduced a first-person mode in 2014, this might be teasing the possibility of a similar feature in GTA 6.

10. Who is Rudi?

While only one character in GTA 6 is explicitly named in the initial trailer, there's an intriguing moment in a social media clip. It shows a guy leaning out of the driver's side of a pickup truck, shirtless but sporting jeans, a bandana, and sunglasses, accompanied by the caption "RIP Rudi - C U in heaven, cuz." Who exactly is Rudi? Could he be someone who went too far in attempting to achieve viral fame? Or might he be an individual encountered during your explorations in Vice City?
