Silver Palace, the upcoming open-world fantasy action RPG from Silver Studio and publisher Elementa, has drawn strong attention with its Dichotomy Beta Test. This second major playable build, running on PC from late July into mid-August 2026, expands significantly on the earlier Monotype test. It delivers over 40 hours of content focused on detective work in the Victorian-inspired metropolis of Silvernia, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Players take on the role of a detective uncovering mysteries tied to the element Silverium amid crime, factions, and intrigue. Here are five of the most notable features that define this beta.

Silver Palace Detective Main Character Sitting On

1. Choice of Male or Female Detective Protagonist

One of the biggest draws is the addition of the long-awaited male protagonist alongside the female lead. At the start, players select between the two, each with distinct narrative framing (sometimes referred to in connection with “The Raven’s Beak” and “The Raven’s Claws”). The paths diverge meaningfully before converging, giving the story real branching rather than pure cosmetic differences. This dual-lead setup lets players experience Silvernia’s cases and relationships from different perspectives while still sharing the core investigation loop.

2. Rebuilt Real-Time Combat with Stamina and Stun Mechanics

Combat receives a substantial overhaul compared to the more forgiving, parry-focused approach of the prior beta. The system now layers stamina management and a stun (or “groggy”) buildup gauge on top of dodging, parrying, melee, and gunplay. Successful hits, skills, and parries fill the stun meter, creating windows for powerful executions and party-wide effects. Real-time switching between party members enables combo chaining and elemental resonance. Accessibility options such as combat assist help balance the higher skill ceiling, making fights feel weightier and more engaging without removing the core challenge.

3. Unique Interrogation and Detective Systems

The interrogation mechanic stands out as one of the most distinctive features in the action-RPG space. When questioning a suspect, players see a case file with a multi-axis radar chart of personality traits and a set of response options. The goal is to match the right tactic to the individual’s profile, turning dialogue into a readable puzzle rather than simple choice trees. Supporting tools include hands-on medical examinations or autopsies (selecting instruments and body parts for findings that feed into cases) and secret photography of NPCs. These elements reinforce the detective fantasy and connect investigation directly to story progress and combat advantages.

4. Expanded Roster of 15 Playable Characters

The beta grows the cast from the previous test’s smaller selection to around 15 playable characters, including roughly eight debuts. New additions fill clearer roles, such as greatsword-and-shield survivability, electric pressure damage, combat support via unique gauges, and other specialized kits. Characters carry dual labels for combat style (for example, DPS, support, or survival) and narrative identity. This depth finally supports meaningful team-building through resonance and synergy systems, giving players more strategic options when switching partners in exploration and battle.

5. Larger Open World with New Districts, Activities, and Traversal

Previously locked areas of Silvernia open up, including the Floating Palace that hosts a royal banquet at the start of the story. The city feels more inhabited thanks to new open-world activities: puzzles, hidden treasures, mysterious street incidents, chess duels, card games, urban horse racing, and other social minigames. Traversal expands with air-and-ground mounts (such as a Silverium Pegasus), vintage automobiles, and larger airborne vessels. These additions turn the dense urban environment into a place worth lingering in between major cases, blending exploration with lifestyle and detective side content.

The Dichotomy Beta Test presents a clearer vision of Silver Palace as both a stylish action RPG and a proper detective experience. While the build remains work-in-progress (with a full data wipe at the end and no in-game purchases), the combination of narrative choice, refined combat, investigative tools, a deeper roster, and a livelier city marks a major step forward. These features give a strong sense of the game’s potential as it heads toward a full multi-platform release.
