I think that we all know Facepunch Studios too well with some of its quite famous titles such as Rust, Clatter, and Garry's Mod. Now they are coming back with Chippy.
It is a new minimalist, twin-stick colourful shoot'em up - like a bullet hell game. I wonder could we call a bullet hell game a minimalist? I think that they leave space for actual bullets in the game, LOL. Or maybe that is because of those massive bosses that flying around in Facepunch.
Those "eyeballs"
For this game, I could have added the "boss rush" genre on top of the other two to describe this game. But that would create a too big genre cluster that the world is not ready for.
In fact, this game looks good. Look at the giant eye in the image below. It looks like it just killed someone's dog, so let's kill it then.
This game is all about the 14 bosses, each makes of multiple parts, which you will have to chip away. Then you will finally reach the core of the boss (the eyeball) and destroy it for good.
Conceptually, it is kinda like the type of behemoth screen-filling bosses that you encounter as the last bosses in those classic shmups games( minus all the little enemies though).
Chippy is not an easy game
In this game, you can capture the replays of your own, and you can also jump in and watch the replays of others too. Be careful too, because it is not easy to take down those eyeballs. You could expect to die and retry a lot in this game.
Still, with many attempts, you would get better in this game, then collect powerups and destroy those pixelated monstrosities.
You can get Chippy right now on Steam for $13.49/€11.24/£10.25, that price is already included a 10% discount for the launch week.
