Alright, dried ghasts are these new blocks from Minecraft’s 2025 updates. You can find them in the Nether’s Soul Sand Valley near those bone block fossils, or you can make them yourself with eight ghast tears and a bone block. If you want to farm them, it’s about grabbing the blocks or their ingredients without too much hassle. Here’s how you can do it:

Finding Them in the Wild

Head to the Soul Sand Valley in the Nether. If you’re just wandering, try the command /locatebiome minecraft:soul_sand_valley to pinpoint one.

Driad Ghast

Keep an eye out for Nether fossils—those bone block piles. Dried ghast blocks pop up nearby as little gray frowning things.

Just break them to pick them up; no special tools needed. They’re not super common, so it’s kind of a roll of the dice depending on how many fossils you stumble across.

Making Them Yourself

If finding them feels too slow, craft them instead. You’ll need:

  • Eight ghast tears, which you get from killing ghasts. They show up in Soul Sand Valley, Nether Wastes, or Basalt Deltas.
  • A bone block, made from nine bone meal. You can get that by composting plants or taking out skeletons.

For ghast tears, set up a ghast farm in the Soul Sand Valley:

  • Find a big open space (ghasts need a 5x5x4 area to spawn), clear it out, and build a platform high up, maybe near the Nether roof.
  • Use slabs or something similar to block other mobs, so more ghasts spawn.
  • Make a spot where you can chill with a setup to take them out—like luring them into lava or shooting arrows—and something to collect the tears, like hoppers and minecarts.
  • Bone blocks are no sweat. Just compost extra plants or hunt skeletons in the Overworld or Nether.

Getting the Most Out of It

Slap Looting III on your gear to get more tears per ghast—up to four if you’re lucky.

Roam around different Soul Sand Valleys to grab dried ghast blocks while you’re collecting tears.

If you’re crafting a ton, set up some redstone to automatically collect stuff and save time.

The tricky part is getting those ghast tears. Ghasts are annoying, floating over lava, and their drops can burn up or fall somewhere you can’t reach. A farm makes it way easier, but it takes time to build. Finding dried ghast blocks naturally depends on luck, so mixing both—checking out fossils and crafting—is probably your best bet.
