Minecraft just rolled out netherite horse armor as part of their new update, Mounts of Mayhem. The game has a bunch of horse armor tiers already, but folks have been itching to slap the toughest material on their mounts. This makes netherite the second type you can craft yourself, right after the basic leather one.

Here's how to whip up netherite horse armor in Minecraft.

Steps to create netherite horse armor in Minecraft

1) Find a diamond horse armor

First off, track down a diamond horse armor in Minecraft. It's no picnic since you can't craft it and it's super rare in chest loot. Check these spots where it might turn up:

  • Monster Room - 6.8%
  • Ancient City - 16.1%
  • Desert Pyramid - 5.9%
  • End City - 4.6%
  • Jungle Pyramid - 4.4%
  • Nether Fortress - 11.1%
  • Stronghold - 2.5%
  • Village (weaponsmith chest) - 5.6%

2) Find a netherite smithing template

Next up, grab the netherite upgrade smithing template—another pain to hunt down. It only shows up in Bastion Remnants chests, and those places are a nightmare with all the piglins and piglin brutes running around.

You've got a 10% shot in regular chests, but it's guaranteed in the treasure chest from the special treasure room variant. Also Read: Why Minecraft's netherite upgrade template is one of the most annoying changes

3) Find ancient debris for netherite ingot

Finally, dig up at least four ancient debris blocks way down in the Nether to make one netherite ingot. They pop up most at Y level 15, but watch out—that depth is loaded with lava lakes and hidden pockets.

Smelt the debris into netherite scraps, then mix those with gold ingots to get your netherite ingot.

4) Combine all three to make netherite horse armor

At last, toss those three hard-to-get items onto a smithing table, and boom—you've got netherite horse armor. It'll give your horse 19 armor points, shielding it from pretty much any hits or harm.
