Cyberpunk 2077, the next big open-world RPG from CD Project RED, is almost here. After a ridiculous number of delays and postponements, the thing is finally moving into the final stages of game development.

While CD Projekt Red has not yet release Cyberpunk 2077 System requirements or specifications, we can already predict the game’s supposed settings, based on the rigs running the test version in various gaming conventions. In the following article, we would list out some of the recommended specifications and some speculations about the optimal hardware to run the game at the best settings. Besides that, some of the most crucial information about Cyberpunk would be included as well.

1 - Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: Recommended Specs

The game has been in development for quite a while, with the first trailer released way back in 2013. Because of that, it is safe to assume that it also used Witcher 3’s engine, at a slightly higher level. Because of that, if your machine is able to run Witcher 3 at an acceptable level, you are likely to be able to run 2077 at a slightly lower setting.

Predictions for System Requirements:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen R5 1600 / Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz
  • HDD: 70+ GB of free space
  • RAM: 16 GB of RAM
  • OS: Win 10 64
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB
  • Screen Resolution: 1080p
  • Direct X: Version 11

While the machine that showcased the game was pretty good - the event happened 2 years ago, and it is not a top-level rig anymore. These components would probably allow you to reach 1080p with above 60fps.

2 - Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: When will Cyberpunk 2077 be released

The game was showcased again at E3 2019 with a gameplay demo. Everything was on display, from character creation system to boss fights. Initially, Cyberpunk 2077 was set for an April 16 launch, but CD Projekt RED delayed it for five more months back in January, stating that it needs more time to finish the polishing process. This has happened before with Witcher 3. The launch in September would cover PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. A version for the next-gen consoles would be released later.

Although this announcement was prior to the coronavirus pandemic, CD Projekt Red has further reassured the fans that they are still going to release the game on time – it won’t be delayed any further.

3 - Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: Gameplay Videos and Demos

CD Projekt has previously live-streamed a 15 minutes video of Cyberpunk 2077 which contains part of the Gamescom footage.

You can also check out the 48 minutes demo from 2018’s E3.

4 - Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: Is Cyberpunk 2077 an FPS?

The game is actually a combination of genres that barely fit together: a first-person shooter RPG. While it sometimes switches into the third person in cutscenes and driving, first-person combat is still the one action that you do 90% of the time. There are a lot of futuristic guns and toys – the game is very chaotic and fast, but not as aggressive as a pure shooter like Doom.

Cyberpunk 2077 System Req: Combat of 2077 is going to be pretty fast-paced

The main reason that the two genres rarely go together is that the usual RPG progression would often dumb down the shooting experience, making the enemy more bullet-spongy than usual, and more. Cyberpunk 2077 has more or less figure out a way to deal with that problem – they cut down the “Stats” aspect to the minimum. The main character, V, is really agile. In combat, you can duck, peak around covers, sprint and vault to get into a better position… and more. The damage that you deal with each shot would be displayed after every hit – but you can probably turn that off to get a more immersive experience.

Allies in this game looks way more useful than in Witcher 3. From the footages we have seen, Jackie is able to hold his own in combat while doing a lot of other things so that protag would be free to pick up the rest of the job.

The special skills of V are probably where the RPG aspects of Cyberpunk 2077 kicks in. In the 2018 demo, V was an agile Cyber Ninja with extra movement speed and a slow-motion bullet mode. She can also perform a dash to reposition. When those two skills are combined – the main character could easily flank enemies and perform fatal kill shots.

There are a lot of cool futuristic weapons like a Smart Rifle with homing bullets or Tech Shotgun with the extra power to punch through covers and enemies. You would definitely get a unique experience comparing to the usual shooter combat.

5 - Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: A huge character creation system

The 2018 demo was pretty bare-bones – with options for hair, tattoo, and clothing only. However, based on later interviews of the head developers, they are going to improve it and add as many character customization into the game as they could.

The stats system is rather weird – there are some straightforward ones like Strength and Intelligence, while weird stats like ‘Cool’ would also be part of the creation process. The total stats that are included in the list are Strength, Reflexes, Intelligence, Constitution, Cool, Tech.

V would have a voice similar to Geralt, and even some voice customization to a limited degree. You can also change the backstory or ‘Lifepath’ of your character – choosing from the wandering Nomad to the Corporation worker or even Street kid and Rockstar. Each life path would unlock unique dialogues and quests throughout the story. You would not be able to change the name of your character, however - they would always be named V.
