GamesBeat reports that Grand Theft Auto 6 could arrive on PC in the first quarter of 2027. That window covers January through March. Four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans confirmed the timing. Rockstar has not officially announced any PC release date.

What the Report Claims

The sources spoke to GamesBeat on the condition of anonymity. They indicated that Rockstar is targeting a PC version only a few months after the console launch. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. A Q1 2027 PC release would therefore leave consoles with a relatively short exclusive period of roughly two to four months.

This is a much faster turnaround than previous Rockstar titles. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles in 2013 and reached PC in 2015, a gap of about 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on PC roughly a year after its console debut. A Q1 2027 PC window for GTA 6 would break that pattern significantly.

Limited Console Exclusivity

A PC release so soon after the console launch is bad news for PlayStation and Xbox. Both platforms would enjoy only a few months of exclusivity for one of the most anticipated games in years. That short window reduces the incentive for players to buy a console specifically for GTA 6. Many fans who own both a console and a gaming PC might simply wait for the PC version rather than purchase the game twice.

Console makers typically benefit when major exclusive titles drive hardware sales and keep players inside their ecosystems for longer. A gap of only a couple of months weakens that advantage. It also limits the period during which PlayStation and Xbox can market GTA 6 as a reason to choose their platform. Once the PC version arrives, the game becomes available on a much larger install base, further diluting any exclusive momentum.

Rockstar has not commented on the report. Until an official announcement arrives, the Q1 2027 window remains unconfirmed. Even so, the possibility of such a quick PC release already shifts expectations.
