Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the 4v4 tag-team fighter developed by Arc System Works and published by PlayStation Publishing, launched on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC. While the console version has generally been well received, the PC edition has faced persistent criticism over performance problems, mandatory PlayStation Network login requirements, and related technical hurdles.

Launch and Early PC Performance Problems
From the open beta through launch and beyond, many PC players reported frame drops, microstutters, high CPU usage, and unstable online play. These issues often led to excessive rollback in multiplayer matches, making competitive sessions frustrating even on hardware that met or exceeded the recommended specs.
Official Patches and Lingering Issues
Early patches, including a notable update around August 10 that targeted audio processing checks and other inefficiencies, improved the experience for a significant number of users and helped stabilize Steam reviews from “Mostly Negative” back toward “Mixed.” However, residual problems remained for others.
Cracked Builds Report Stronger Results
Roughly 11 days after release, reports emerged that a cracked, DRM-free version of the game had surfaced. Players testing this unofficial build described markedly better performance compared to the official Steam and Epic releases. Multiple accounts noted solid 60 frames per second on high or maximum settings, lower overall CPU and GPU usage, and fewer requirements such as shader preloading. One user with an Intel Core i7-6700K observed CPU usage dropping from around 57 percent on the retail version to about 34 percent on the cracked build. Others reported rock-solid 60 fps on medium settings with hardware utilization in the 40-50 percent range, while the official version hovered near 45 fps even at reduced resolutions.
Community discussions on platforms including Reddit, ResetEra, and X frequently attribute the difference to the absence of certain protections and background processes in the cracked version. The official PC release incorporates elements such as Easy Anti-Cheat, real-time decryption of encrypted data in small chunks on a single CPU core, and multiple PlayStation SDK services tied to PSN integration. These have been cited as contributors to elevated resource demands. Residual stutters during super moves or in menus were still noted by some in the unofficial builds, but the overall improvement was widely described as substantial.
