After half a decade of leaks, delays, and trailer hype, Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine landed on PS5 and immediately underwhelmed. The conversation on X has been brutal. This was supposed to be Sony's next flagship. Instead it looks like the studio's first real stumble in the Marvel lane.

Then there is the hand-holding. Logan's "scent trail" became a punchline overnight. A glowing path steers you through a linear game, with no option to turn it off. Quick-time events that do not even punish failure piled on. Collectibles ping on a radar. For a character defined by instinct and violence, the design treats players like they cannot find the next door.
Length and price made it worse. A short, on-rails campaign at $70 sent people canceling pre-orders in public. The reported development cost, north of $300 million, makes the result look even worse. That is sequel money for a game that feels smaller than Miles Morales.
Story and characters took hits too. The plot is called messy. Classic mutants, especially the women, drew complaints for look and writing. Credits chatter about outside consultants only poured fuel on an already angry timeline.
Insomniac is already promising patches. That is not a victory lap. When a studio spends launch day talking about scent trails and QTEs, the product did not land. Years of waiting, a huge budget, a beloved character, and a mid review average. On X, that is the definition of a miss.
