Minecraft’s been doing crossovers for ages. The Minecraft Marketplace makes it super easy to grab extra content, and it’s clear that both players and other media folks love these team-ups.

Now, out of nowhere, Minecraft teased a new crossover. This one looks like it’s with The Smurfs, or more specifically, the movie version of the classic comic and cartoon, called Smurfs, which came out in mid-July 2025. The teaser shows a blocky Smurf-looking character with a short caption: “The village is about to look different,” plus a mushroom and blue circle emoji. They even tagged the Smurfs movie in the post, so it’s pretty clear something’s coming tied to the film.

Minecraft x Smurfs Crossover Gets Players Talking

Fans have been buzzing since the tease dropped, especially since Mojang hasn’t spilled much yet, leaving room for guesses. Some players are hoping the content won’t be stuck on Minecraft Java Edition and will work on Minecraft Bedrock too. Others are curious about what the crossover will include—maybe just skins, or possibly Smurf NPCs. One fan threw out the wild idea of shrinking down to Smurf size to check out a hidden Smurf village.

No release date’s been shared yet, but it’ll probably hit the Minecraft Marketplace soon. Like Fortnite, Minecraft’s been teaming up with tons of other media, and this Smurfs crossover is just one of several movie tie-ins in the summer of 2025. For instance, earlier this year, Minecraft added How to Train Your Dragon content. They also tossed in some free stuff from A Minecraft Movie in 2025. If The Smurfs isn’t your thing, those other crossovers might be worth a look, but fans of the blue crew seem pretty pumped for this one.
