When players start exploring the blocky world of Minecraft, most of them will simply walk or run through the different biomes or multiplayer maps. But over the years, Mojang has added new ways to travel, giving players more options to try.
These options include saddles for riding pigs, horses, donkeys, and mules, as well as boats, minecarts, and the rare elytra, which lets players glide through the air. Over time, some of these items have been improved, like boats that can now carry two players or mobs. However, Mojang could one day introduce a big update for vehicles, making long journeys much easier—or possibly more challenging.

The Potential Benefits of a Minecraft Vehicle Update
Minecraft worlds are getting larger as biomes become more unique and varied. With the recent addition of the Pale Garden, the overworld now has 53 biomes, plus five in the Nether and five in the End. In survival mode, finding some of these rare biomes can be hard without using coordinates or external seed maps. To make traveling across worlds or reaching rare biomes easier, Mojang could add carts, carriages, and wagons that camels, cows, donkeys, horses, llamas, or mules could pull.
Just like the wagons used by 19th-century pioneers in the United States, these vehicles could help players transport items over long distances without filling up their own inventory. Mojang could add both two-wheeled and four-wheeled wagons for players to craft. A single mob could pull two-wheeled wagons but carry fewer items, while four-wheeled wagons might require multiple mobs and hold more.
On the other hand, four-wheeled wagons would need at least two mobs to pull them but could be pulled by more for faster travel. These larger wagons could carry more items, with enough space for two large chests and two utility blocks like a crafting table or furnace. This setup would let players bring most of their essential items along on long journeys to explore rare biomes.
Reimagining Boats: A Potential Minecraft Update
While wagons improve land travel, Minecraft's boats could also benefit from an update to make ocean journeys smoother. Right now, boats can carry two passengers, two mobs, or a single chest, and players can tow additional boats with leads. To enhance ocean travel, Mojang could introduce larger boats, two blocks wide and long, that could hold a large chest and two players at the same time.
It's worth noting that while donkeys, horses, and mules can’t currently pull anything in Minecraft, players can use a lead to pull other animals while riding these mobs.
Why a Minecraft Vehicle Update Could Be Overcomplicated
A large vehicle update for both land and sea could make traveling through vast worlds easier and more fun, but it might also seem out of place for Minecraft's survival style. Wagons and bigger boats could feel too advanced compared to the more DIY tools and equipment the game typically offers. After all, if players were stranded in the wild, they might not be able to craft large boats or wagons. Additionally, horses, donkeys, and mules might already provide enough transportation for most players, as horses can cover long distances quickly, and donkeys and mules can carry chests with 15 inventory slots.
Adding carts, carriages, and wagons to Minecraft could make traveling across large worlds easier and more fun. However, these vehicles might not work well in dense forests with closely spaced trees, like birch, oak, and spruce forests. Without changes to make trees taller or increase the space between them, these vehicles might not be useful in both new and old worlds.
