Released in March last year, Monster Hunter World was highly acclaimed for its stunning graphics, intense combat, and magnificent monsters. While this game served as the introduction to the Monster Hunter series for many people, the franchise is actually one of Capcom's oldest. The first Monster Hunter title made its debut on the PlayStation 2 in 2004, meaning this year marks the fifteenth anniversary of the series. To commemorate this occasion, the publisher has released a special trailer, which you can check out below:

The 2-minute long video looks back on all the mainline installments in the franchise up to this point, starting with the 2004 title. Since then, Monster Hunter has been brought to several consoles including 3DS, PSP, Wii, and more recently PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

At the very end of the video is a short teaser for Iceborne, a new major expansion for Monster Hunter World that is expected to launch this year. Not a lot of details have been revealed yet, but this upcoming DLC will supposedly add tons of new content, including new locales, gear, quests, monsters, and more.

Besides the trailer, Capcom has also been celebrating the 15th birthday of Monster Hunter by sharing cards from various developers who have contributed to the series. One of these cards has attracted the attention of Resetera users. Specifically, some keen-eyed fans have caught a word hidden in the card from Yasunori Ichinose, who has worked on several titles in the series. The word reads “Next”.

It is unclear whether this is an easter egg to hint at what Capcom has in store for the future, but what we know for sure is that more information about Iceborne is coming very soon. The expansion is planned to come out this fall for Xbox One and PS4 and will arrive on PC afterward.
