Iceborne will have players travel to the snowy Hoarfrost Reach, a region that is allegedly the biggest one in the game to date. To survive the cold, you will have to drink hot drinks or bath in hot springs frequently to keep yourself warm. During your time in Hoarfrost Reach, you’ll encounter several new creatures, the most notable of which being the Cortos – flying creatures that can take you around.
Additional monsters featured in Iceborne include Beotodus, a Piscine Wyvern that likes to cover itself in the snow; Banbaro, a Brute Wyvern with a bad temper and massive horns that it can use to hurl trees and boulders at its enemies; Velkhana, an Elder Dragon known for its fearsome ice attacks.
To help players combat these challenging new monsters, the developer is also bringing some new mechanics to the combat system. For example, the Slinger can now be used even when you’ve drawn your weapon, and it has a new attachment called the Clutch Claw that allows it to grapple onto monsters. Weapons now also come with some new combos as well.
Those who want more challenges can try out the new Master Rank featured in Iceborne, which is similar to the G Rank in previous Monster Hunter games. Basically, it makes the monsters more ferocious.
