NVIDIA has announced a major performance update for DLSS 5. The new AI model runs twice as fast as the version released in September and uses 20 percent less VRAM at 4K resolution. Image quality stays similar overall. The company also confirmed several upcoming game integrations and tools that will bring the technology to more titles and older games through modding.

Faster Model With Lower Overhead
The October update reduces the DLSS 5 model size by 24 percent to roughly 118 million parameters. This change, along with pipeline optimizations, cuts GPU overhead in half compared with the September release. NVIDIA states that the model is now 10 times faster than the original demonstration shown in March. These gains help more players run DLSS 5 at higher frame rates and settings without as large a performance penalty. The new model will ship by default with future DLSS 5 games.
New Games Receiving DLSS 5
Hogwarts Legacy will add DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on November 5 for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark systems. The update also upgrades the game’s existing DLSS features. Avalanche Software used the DLSS 5 SDK to tune the effect so it matches the game’s intended art style while improving lighting and materials.
Where Winds Meet is scheduled to receive DLSS 5 in a future update, expected in late November. The open-world action RPG already supports DLSS Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution. The addition of Neural Rendering aims to further enhance its world and character visuals.
NBA 2K27 gets the updated, faster model on October 16. NVIDIA reports that the change can deliver up to 1.4 times higher frame rates compared with the September version of DLSS 5 in the game. Support covers RTX 50 Series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW.
Experimental Frame Generation Mode
NVIDIA has released a new beta Performance Mode for Frame Generation, labeled Preset C in the NVIDIA app. It replaces one of the AI models with a lighter algorithm. On an RTX 5060 the mode can increase Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation performance by up to 35 percent. There is a small reduction in image quality. The feature works on RTX 40 Series and RTX 50 Series GPUs as well as RTX Spark systems and is available now through the NVIDIA app beta.
RTX Remix Gets the Update
On October 23, RTX Remix will receive DLSS 5 with the faster Neural Rendering model and the new Frame Generation Performance Mode. This gives modders additional tools to improve lighting, materials, and overall visuals in older games using path tracing. Early previews have already shown gains in community projects such as Fallout 4 RTX and Mirror’s Edge RTX. Modders will be able to control the effect on a per-object basis through the Remix runtime and toolkit.
