Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, a free ad-supported service with more than 100 live channels and on-demand titles. It is available now in the United States from the console’s Media tab. There is no subscription, extra fee, or download. Sony Pictures Television operates the app and says new channels and programs will be added over time.
This is not a revival of PlayStation Vue, Sony’s old paid live-TV product. It follows the same free-with-ads model used by apps such as Pluto TV and Tubi. Availability can vary by local market, and the catalog can change.
What you can watch
The launch mix covers movies, TV, anime, sports, news, weather, and creator-led shows.
- Movies: Action, horror, and science fiction on channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault. Titles reported at launch include The Hunger Games, Hancock, and Resident Evil.
- TV shows: Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor, and Ice Road Truckers from HISTORY. Some series have dedicated channels.
- Anime: Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note, plus exclusive Crunchyroll channels for Black Clover and Box Sets.
- Sports: FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, UFC, the NFL Channel, and other feeds covering MMA, football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, and soccer.
- News and extras: NBC News Now, Fox Weather, LiveNOW from FOX, and ABC News Live, plus Hot Ones, Spotify’s The Ringer, documentaries, podcasts, gaming, and esports from partners such as eCLUTCH.
Other partners include Amazon MGM Studios, NBCUniversal, ESPN, A+E, AMC, and Radial Entertainment.
How to watch
Open the Media tab on the PS5 home screen, select Live TV on PS5, then sign in with a PlayStation account. You also need to create or link a Sony Pictures CORE account. Adult accounts in eligible regions can use the service. The DualSense controller and PlayStation Media Remote both work. Closed captions follow the console’s accessibility settings.
Where it is available
The launch is limited to the United States. Sony plans to bring the service to Canada and is looking at other regions. For U.S. PS5 owners, the app is already in the Media tab.
