South Korean developer Shift Up has officially unveiled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, the direct sequel to its 2024 hit Stellar Blade. The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2026 with a debut trailer that showcased the game's signature high-octane combat and stunning visuals.

The new title continues the story from the ending of the original game and takes place in the same universe. It introduces a fresh protagonist named Evie, a young warrior equipped with advanced gear who battles grotesque enemies in a neon-lit urban environment. Early footage highlights fluid parries, brutal brawling sequences, cinematic combos, and intense encounters with tentacle-like horrors. The trailer was captured in-engine, hinting at the same level of graphical fidelity that helped the first game stand out.

Stellar Blade: Blood Rain marks a significant step for Shift Up. The studio, known for its work on the original Stellar Blade and the mobile game Nikke, will self-publish the sequel through its newly established publishing division. This decision ends the PlayStation 5 exclusivity of the first game and opens the door to a multiplatform release that could include Xbox Series X and S, PC, and PlayStation 5.
The original Stellar Blade launched in April 2024 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive before arriving on PC in June 2025. It sold more than six million copies worldwide and earned praise for its fast-paced combat, detailed character design, and atmospheric post-apocalyptic setting. Fans and critics alike highlighted Eve's journey across a ruined Earth as a standout element. Blood Rain builds directly on that foundation while expanding the narrative to new locations, including what appears to be a human colony in outer space after Earth was abandoned.

Shift Up confirmed that Blood Rain remains in early development. No release date, full platform list, or additional gameplay features have been shared yet. The studio stated it has made strong progress and plans to reveal more details when ready.
The reveal trailer quickly generated buzz across social media and gaming communities. Many players expressed excitement over Evie's design, the return of the franchise's distinctive style, and the promise of more of the same satisfying action that defined the original. Some noted the self-publishing approach as a bold move that could give Shift Up greater creative freedom moving forward.
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain arrives at a time when action-adventure games with strong character focus continue to draw massive audiences. With the original's commercial success and the new entry's early footage already turning heads, expectations are high for Shift Up's next chapter. Fans will have to wait for further updates, but the debut trailer has already set the stage for what could be one of the most anticipated sequels in the genre.
