The Steam Autumn Sale 2026 is live from October 1 to October 8. Thousands of titles are discounted, but most of the deepest cuts land on games that are already several years old. This list keeps the window tight: only games released in the last five years, ranked mainly on review score and how close the current price sits to the lowest point in discount history. Recency still matters, but it is the tiebreaker, not the main reason a game made the cut.

Prices below are U.S. Steam store prices checked around October 1 to 2, 2026. Regional pricing will differ. The sale ends October 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific.

How these games were ranked

  • Rating first. Steam user sentiment and critic scores had to be clearly positive. Mixed or review-bombed titles were left out even when the discount looked huge.
  • Discount history second. A game scored higher if the Autumn Sale price matches, or sits very near, its lowest recorded sale price.
  • Recency third. Newer releases got a small bump, but only after rating and price history were already strong.
  • Five-year cutoff. Anything released before October 2021 was excluded, even if it is currently 90 percent off.

The top 10

1. Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise

Sale price: $3.99 (90 percent off, from $39.99)

Released: January 2022 on PC

Why it ranks here: This is the cleanest deal in the sale. Rise is Very Positive on Steam, with a Metacritic score in the mid-80s, and the $3.99 tag is an all-time low. You get a full monster-hunting action RPG with Wirebug movement, a long endgame, and co-op that still holds up. The base game alone is enough. Sunbreak is also deeply discounted if you want the expansion later.

2. The Talos Principle 2

Page Bg Raw 1

Sale price: $2.99 (90 percent off)

Released: November 2023

Why it ranks here: A 90 percent cut on a Very Positive puzzle adventure with a Metacritic score around 88 is rare. The current price is at or next to the historical floor. It is a slower, idea-driven game about philosophy, machines, and huge open puzzle zones. If you like first-person puzzles more than combat, this is the best dollar-per-hour buy in the sale.

3. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

Sale price: $9.99 (75 percent off)

Released: December 2021 on PC

Why it ranks here: Intergrade sits just inside the five-year window and still has Overwhelmingly Positive Steam reviews. A 75 percent cut puts the full Midgar campaign, plus the Intermission episode, under $10. It is not the newest Final Fantasy on the list, but the rating and the size of the discount beat most newer games that are only 20 to 30 percent off.

4. Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload

Sale price: $17.99 (70 percent off, from $59.99)

Released: February 2024

Why it ranks here: Reload is at a historical low on Steam, and coverage out of Japan has already flagged the 70 percent cut as a record price. Reviews are Very Positive, with a Metacritic score in the high 80s. It is a long calendar-based RPG with a sharp remake coat of paint. If you have wanted to replay the Answer-era story without the old PSP version, this is the week to do it.

5. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2

Sale price: $14.99 (75 percent off)

Released: September 2024

Why it ranks here: A 75 percent cut this soon after launch is aggressive, and the price is at the low end of its short discount history. Steam reviews are Very Positive. It is a loud third-person shooter built around melee, hordes, and co-op operations. Rating is a step below the JRPGs above it, but the discount depth and the 2024 release date keep it in the top half.

6. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Sale price: $14.99 (70 percent off, from $49.99)

Released: January 2025 on PC

Why it ranks here: Rebirth is the unusual one. A 2025 action RPG with strong critic scores, already 70 percent off, is not a normal first-year discount. The $14.99 price is the lowest it has been. Open-zone exploration, party combat, and a much wider story than Remake make it the better pick if you already own Intergrade. Buying both this week costs about $25.

7. Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor Refantazio Main Art

Sale price: $27.99 (60 percent off, from $69.99)

Released: October 2024

Why it ranks here: This is the highest-rated game on the list. Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, Metacritic around 92, and the $27.99 tag matches the lowest price it has hit across 2026 sales. The discount is not as deep as Rise or Talos Principle 2, which is why it sits seventh instead of first. If you want one long, new fantasy RPG and can spend closer to $30, this is the one.

8. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Kingdom Come Deliverance Ii Fights

Sale price: $23.99 (60 percent off)

Released: February 2025

Why it ranks here: Deliverance II is Very Positive, with critic scores in the high 80s, and $23.99 is the low it has already settled at during 2026 promotions. It is a slow, systems-heavy medieval RPG. Combat, crime, and travel all ask for patience. The discount is real, the game is recent, and the rating is strong enough to clear the bar.

9. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader

Sale price: $14.99 (70 percent off)

Released: December 2023

Why it ranks here: A 70 percent cut on a Very Positive CRPG is a better history-discount story than most 2025 games still sitting at 30 percent off. It is party-based, text-heavy, and built for players who like Owlcat's style of branching quests. Rating is good rather than elite, so it lands below Metaphor and the Final Fantasy pair.

10. Dave the Diver

Dave The Diver

Sale price: $9.99 (50 percent off)

Released: 2023

Why it ranks here: The discount is only 50 percent, so it loses to the 75 and 90 percent cuts above it. The rating pulls it back in. Dave the Diver is Overwhelmingly Positive, with a Metacritic score around 90, and $9.99 is a familiar sale floor rather than a fake bargain. Diving by day and running a sushi bar by night is an easy recommend if you want something lighter than the RPGs on this list.

Close calls that did not make the ten

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (about 20 percent off, near $39.99) has the best critic score of the year, but the Steam price is only matching its usual floor, not breaking it. Buy it if the rating matters more to you than the size of the cut.
  • Lies of P at $29.99 (50 percent off) is Overwhelmingly Positive, but the price is not low enough to jump the games above.
  • Hades II at $20.99 (30 percent off) is recent and well liked. The discount is still shallow for this sale.
  • Final Fantasy XVI at $19.99 (60 percent off) is a fair action-RPG deal, just behind Rebirth and Remake on rating and price.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 at $17.99 is a strong 70 percent cut, but the 2020 release date puts it outside the five-year rule.

What to buy if you only want one

  • Under $5: Monster Hunter Rise. All-time low, full game, co-op included.
  • Under $15: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth if you want a big 2025 RPG, or Space Marine 2 if you want combat.
  • Best review score: Metaphor: ReFantazio at $27.99, which is its historical low band.
  • Best pair: Remake Intergrade and Rebirth together, about $25, if you want the full remake arc so far.

Check the price history on SteamDB before you check out. If a game you want is more than a few dollars above its recorded low, the Winter Sale on December 17 is the next major event. For the ten above, the Autumn Sale price is already at or next to the floor.
