Due to the sheer size of the game right now, most Minecraft updates come out with fewer features than expected. Of the new additions in 1.19, only the Mangrove biomes are supposed to come out during this patch - the whole Deep Dark and Ancient City biomes are from the previous caves and cliff update (which was split into 2 parts). In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the 5 most likely features to come out in the 1.20 update of Minecraft.
1. Ancient City portal
The new Ancient City is probably the most exciting addition to Minecraft 1.19. They are a lot of fun to explore and their treasures are really rewarding. Amongst the structures in Ancient City, the strangest one is probably the weird-looking portal. It is a huge hollow structure that looks like a portal and a window in the center of the ancient city.
Furthermore, this portal area is made up of reinforced deep slate blocks, which are 10 times stronger than obsidian. Similar to the blocks that made up the End Portal, you can't mine and get reinforced deep slate. Breaking it takes a whopping 80 seconds. If Mojang is ever going to expand the concept of the deep dark in 1.20, this portal will definitely play a role.
2. Biome Upgrade
Mojang has put a lot of biomes into the upgrade list, with Desert, Savannah and Badlands being the top candidate. They are going to come with their own exclusive new mobs and blocks, similar to the Mangrove Swamp. However, it is still too early to predict which one of them would be part of 1.20 - we need the title of the update for that.
Outside of an outright biome upgrade, Mojang could also add more village variants to biomes, as it has been one of the most demanded features for quite a while now.
3. Different wolf species
Wolf or dogs are one of the most useful mobs in Minecraft - it is the only mob players can tame to fight alongside. However, wolves have no variants whatsoever. Unlike cats (which have dozen of species), wolves can only be gray. Mojang can definitely fix this issue in the next update by adding more variants of wolves for players to tame.
4. Spectator Mode
Spectator Mode is a feature in Minecraft that allows players to "spectate" the world in an ethereal fashion, granting them the ability to fly through any object, surface, or entity in the world.
It was accidentally revealed during the 1.19 betas. This feature is previously a Java exclusive but will soon come to Bedrock. Apparently, it was not finished in time for 1.19 and will be polished to come out in 1.20 or so. Apparently, Bedrock players are going to get access to spectator mode as an Experimental Toggle in an upcoming beta.
5. Bundles
A bundle is a storage item that can be used for managing items inside the player's inventory and allows for combinations of multiple item types within single inventory slots. They were announced a while ago but keep getting delayed. The 1.20 version might be where Mojang finally add this feature to the game.
This would be a very significant update for Minecraft's inventory system, allowing players to carry all sorts of items in a limited inventory.
